r- <br />-4 - <br />Mr. C. A. Maurer, 26170 W. Fremont -.ve., who has been a farmer in <br />Los Altos Hills for the past 13 years, spoke regarding the high <br />4 assessments. He stated that it is not his intention, at the pre - <br />Sent time, to subdivide, but that in the event that his property <br />is assessed 200% or 300.0 higher because of new subdivisionhe ay <br />have to consider subdividing. He stated that he voiced the opinion <br />of other farmers and fruit growers in the area. <br />The possibility of having certain areas declared "greenbelt" in <br />order to lower assessments was discussed. It was pointed out that <br />once an area has been declared such, it must remain so, or in the <br />event that it ever zoned differently, certain back assessments <br />would have to be paid. <br />Councilman Bledsoe recommended that the City Attorney be authorized <br />to draft a resolution for adoption by the City Council re'questirig <br />the State Legislature to take some aetton in the matter of assess- <br />ments by the County and expressing the views of the Town in regard <br />to the situation. <br />The City Clerk was instructed to notify the City Attorney to pro- <br />ceed with the drafting of a resolution as recon -mended. <br />4. Fre - Report by Mayor Treat. <br />The Mayor reported. that he and Councilman Fowle had attended a <br />Freeway Study Session held by the County B omd of Supervisors, at <br />which.a discussion was held regarding the possible widening of <br />Fremont Avenue to a four or six lane highway to parallel the S. P. <br />tracks and running to the Stanford Industrial Park. It was pointed <br />out that slow traffic on six lanes would be worse than the Freeway. <br />No definite decision was reached at this meeting. <br />5+ Warrants - Bills in the amount of ,2,634.24 were presented for <br />payment. <br />ACTION: <br />That the Council approve payment of bills as presented and <br />that the City Clerk be authorized appropriate warrants for <br />payment. <br />MOTION: Councilman Fowle; SECOITD! Zonin Ordinance - Ordinance #44. - <br />Chairman Williams, of the Planning Commission, explained the <br />'mechanical' procedure followed before final adoption of an ord- <br />inance, stating that the first draft is the product of joint Com- <br />mittees of the Council and Planning Commission followed by numerous <br />study sessions,'and a Public Hearing held by the-Pl1inning Con ission <br />3-12-58 <br />
