Mayor Treat commented on the possibility of Federal <br />funds to be applied for the study of drainage problems. <br />This will be investigated further. <br />10. The Planning Commission requested the Council for <br />general policy decision as to road improvement and <br />construction. Since the advisory committee has not <br />yet completed its report, the Council stated that <br />its policy is to maintain the status quo of rural <br />roads. <br />11. Town Hall Report - There have been two offers of a <br />flag pole from Harold Baxter and Frank Taylor. Mr. <br />Taylor will be requested to change his gift. The <br />Los Altos Nursery has made a gift of plants to the <br />value of $100.00. An anonymous person made a gift <br />of $25,00 to be applied to trial expenses. The City <br />Attorney felt this gift was out of order and Council- <br />man Bledsoe was requested to see if this money can <br />be applied to the general fund, <br />12. Councilman Rothwell brought up the matter of littering <br />on roads which is an acute and unpleasant problem. The <br />Mayor will ask the Road Commissioner to explore the <br />costs which would be involved in cleaning the roads <br />and report to the Council an estimate of these costs <br />at the next meeting, if possible. The Council discussed <br />the possibility of a tough enforcement policy after <br />the town is cleaned up and also signs stating the law. <br />-3- <br />
