Council Member Mordo inquired about the appointment to the Los Altos Hills <br />County Fire District Board. <br />City Attorney Steve Mattas suggested that if the Council wishes to discuss the <br />item, as it does have a time factor associated with it, that they should entertain a <br />formal motion to add it to the current agenda. The information regarding the <br />vacancy and the potential modification to the historical appointment process is <br />something that the Council is just now becoming aware. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Council Member Mordo, <br />seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Larsen and passed unanimously to add the discussion <br />of the Los Altos Hills County Fire District vacancy and potential modification to <br />the historical appointment process to the agenda. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Mayor Pro Tem Larsen, <br />seconded by Council Member Waldeck and passed unanimously to state that if the <br />Council has the authority to make an appointment, staff is directed to agendize the <br />appointment on the council agenda; if there is a dispute about the authority and the <br />Board of Supervisors elects to go ahead with making an appointment, the Council <br />advises the Board that the Council requests and recommends that Jean Mordo be <br />appointed to the Los Altos Hills County Fire District. <br />9. STAFF REPORTS <br />The City Clerk reported that the Volunteer Dinner was scheduled for Saturday, <br />October 29, 2011 at the Fremont Hills Country Club. <br />10. COUNCIL INITIATED ITEMS <br />B. Request for Funding for Senior Commission Scholarships in the amount of <br />$500.00 (Mayor Summit) <br />Mayor Summit outlined the request for funding for Senior Commission <br />scholarships in the amount of $500.00. <br />Catherine Popell, Member of the Los Altos/Los Altos Hills Senior Commission, <br />stated that the City of Los Altos has already put into process a way for their seniors <br />to apply for money, and that entails a whole application process. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Council Member Radford, <br />seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Larsen and passed unanimously to approve the <br />City Council Regular Meeting <br />October 20, 2011 <br />
