The report was presented by City Manager Carl Cahill. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />David Bergman, President of the Los Altos Hills County Fire District, <br />introduced the other Fire District commissioners present and stated the Board has <br />not met since the ad hoc issue came up and he could not comment on it. Further, <br />he attended a LAFCO meeting today and no decision has been made to dissolve <br />the Saratoga Fire District as they are studying the issue. He stated that it is too <br />early to create an ad hoc committee at this time. <br />Owen Halliday, Finance Chairman of the Los Altos Hills County Fire <br />District, stated one day there will be a catastrophic incident in this area that will <br />be very expensive. They have stockpiled money because they know at some point <br />it will be needed. They have purposefully saved money and not overspent on <br />things. He stated that it is important to look at the whole picture and the issue is <br />not necessarily between the District and the Town, but between the District and <br />LAFCO. <br />Jim Abraham, Los Altos Hills, spoke in support of forming an ad hoc <br />committee. <br />Breene Kerr, Los Altos Hills, commented on potentially designating Westwind <br />Barn as an emergency operations center. <br />David Bergman, invited the City Council to attend any of the Fire District's <br />monthly meetings. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Council Member Mordo, <br />seconded by Council Member Waldeck and passed unanimously to approve <br />forming an ad hoc committee on fire services to study opportunities to ensure <br />local control over fire services provided to town residents and appoint Council <br />Member Mordo and Council Member Waldeck to the committee. <br />Council Member Mordo inquired on whether or not there were candidates from <br />the Finance and Investment Committee to serve. <br />City Manager Carl Cahill stated that the Finance and Investment Committee <br />Chair would be willing to participate. <br />B.
