City Clerk Deborah Padovan provided the projected savings of cancelling the election <br />and confirmed that proper noticing procedures were followed. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />Mayor Larsen, being one of the candidates considered, recused himself and stepped <br />down from the dais. <br />Vice Mayor Waldeck opened the matter for public comment. <br />Jim Abraham, Los Altos Hills, stated that if an election does not take place then "you're <br />messing with our normal democratic process and the ability to have a write-in vote." He <br />further said that "democracy should win in this case." <br />John Harpootlian, Los Altos Hills, explained that various residents of the Town invited <br />other individuals to run for City Council and no one came forward. He believed that the <br />three candidates were a good group. <br />Vice Mayor Waldeck closed the matter for public comment and brought it to the <br />Council for further discussion. <br />MOTION MADE AND SECONDED: Council Member Mordo moved to cancel the <br />election.
