e
ORDINANCE NO. 394
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
ADDING CHAPTER 8 (GRAFFITI) TO
TITLE 5 (PUBLIC WELFARE, MORALS, AND CONDUCT)
OF THE LOS ALTOS HILLS MUNICIPAL CODE
REGARDING THE ABATEMENT OF GRAFFITI
WHEREAS, graffiti has become a problem affecting both public
and private property within the Town of Los Altos Hills; and
WHEREAS unless steps are undertaken to
p abate the existing
graffiti, the existence of the
g graffiti will encourage more
graffiti .
NOW THEREFORE the City Council of the Town of Los Altos
Hills does ORDAIN as follows :
1. AMENDMENT OF CODE. Chapter 8 (Graffiti) is hereby added
to Title 5 (Public Welfare, Morals, and Conduct) of the Los Altos
Hills Municipal Code to read as follows:
CHAPTER 8. GRAFFITI
Sec. 5-8 .01. Purpose.
The purpose of this Chapter is to provide a program
for the removal of graffiti from both public and private
property and to provide regulations designed to prevent
and control the further spread of graffiti in the Town.
The increase of graffiti on both public and private
buildings, structures, and places creates a condition of
blight within the Town which results in a deterioration
of property values for adjacent and surrounding
properties, all to the detriment of the Town. The City
Council finds and determines that graffiti is obnoxious
and a public nuisance which must be abated so as to avoid
the detrimental impact of graffiti on the Town and to
prevent the further spread of graffiti .
Sec. 5-8 .02 . Graffiti Definition.
For the purpose of this Chapter, "graffiti,, - shall
mean the unauthorized spraying of paint or marking of
ink, dye, or other similar indelible substances on public
or private buildings, structures, and places .
1 3\1ah\ord\graffiti.ord
