• <br /> RESOLUTION NO, 534 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF <br /> LOS ALTOS HILLS URGING ADOPTION BY THE LEAGUE OF <br /> CALIFORNIA CITIES OF CERTAIN RESOLUTIONS RELATING <br /> TO NOISE ABATEMENT. <br /> RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills , <br /> California, that said Council does hereby urge the adoption, by <br /> the League of California Cities , of appropriate resolutions <br /> urging adoption of the hereinafter specified legislation and <br /> policies <br /> A. That the California State Division of Highways allocate <br /> and employ funds equal to 2 percent of those monies proposed for <br /> highway construction for the express purpose of achieving improved <br /> designs of highways to minimize noise and to accomplish improvements <br /> in existing highways to reduce noise from vehicular traffic. <br /> B. That the California Highway Patrol institute a vigorous <br /> program of education of patrolmen relative to techniques for <br /> enforcement of allowable standards for vehicle noise, and that <br /> the Department subsequently move to achieve effective and rigorous <br /> enforcement of those statutes governing vehicle noise. <br /> C . That the Office of Attorney General of California and/or <br /> the Judicial Council, after due investigation, establish and <br /> promulgate a structure of recommended fines and penalties of sufficient <br /> severity to ensure that violations of existing vehicle noise laws <br /> will be markedly curbed in frequency of occurrence. ' <br /> D. That those California residents who have suffered extreme <br /> discomfort or inconvenience as a result of noise from newly <br /> constructed highways be reimbursed from appropriate state funds <br /> for the direct costs borne by such residents in achieving alleviation <br /> of or relief from the excessive highway noise. <br /> E, That cities employ to the greatest extent possible those <br /> revenues from fines derived from convictions and forfeitures for <br /> violation of existing noise statutes to the cause of supporting <br /> and furthering abatement of noise from vehicles on public highways <br /> and streets . <br /> LAGORIO & FAISANT <br /> ATTORNEYS AT LAW <br /> 300 THIRD STREET <br /> LOS ALTOS, CALIF. <br /> A <br />
