-A <br /> tr <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 396 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> ADDING ARTICLE 3 (TERM LIMITS) TO CHAPTER 1 <br /> (CITY COUNCIL) TO TITLE 2 (ADMINISTRATION) OF <br /> THE LOS ALTOS HILLS MUNICIPAL CODE- REGARDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL TERM LIMITS <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that some of the Town' s <br /> citizens have expressed an interest in placing limits on the number <br /> of consecutive terms that a City Councilmember may serve; and <br /> WHEREAS, any proposal to limit the number of terms a member of <br /> the City Council may serve on the City Council, shall apply <br /> prospectively only and shall not become operative unless it is <br /> submitted to the electors of the city at a regularly scheduled <br /> election and a majority of the votes cast on the question favor .the <br /> adoption of the proposal. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, the, people of the Town of Los Altos Hills do <br /> ORDAIN as follows : <br /> 1. Addition to Code. Article 3 (Term Limits) is hereby <br /> added to Chapter 1 (City Council) of Title 2 (Administration) of the <br /> Los Altos Hills Municipal Code to read as follows: <br /> CHAPTER 1. CITY COUNCIL <br /> Article 3 . Term Limits <br /> Sec. 2-1.301. Purpose. <br /> The purpose of this Chapter is to set term limits on <br /> the number of consecutive terms a City Councilmember may serve. <br /> Sec. 2-1.302 . Term Limits. <br /> No person shall be allowed to serve more than two (2) <br /> consecutive terms on the Los Altos Hills City Council . <br /> Notwithstanding the above, at any municipal election after the <br /> expiration of two years following the two (2) consecutive terms, <br /> such person may again seek election or appointment to the City <br /> Council . <br /> Sec. 2-1.303 . Partial Term <br /> For the purposes of .applying this Article, a person <br /> who serves over half of a City Council term, whether elected or <br /> appointed, shall be deemed to have served that entire term. <br /> 1 3\1ah\ord\e1ec.ord <br />
