ORDINANCE NO. 364
AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF
THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS
REGARDING ONE-WAY TRAFFIC FOR CERTAIN
TRUCKS ON STONEBROOK ROAD
WHEREAS, many trucks are now using Stonebrook Road from
E1 Monte Road to Prospect Road in order to haul dirt for the
reclamation of the former Neary Quarry; ; and
WHEREAS, because of the narrow width of this road; the
inadequate site distances and the recent accident involving a
heavy truck, the City Engineer and Sheriff' s Department of Santa
Clara County have determined that the current two-way traffic is
not reasonable or safe for the heavy truck traffic existing on
this portion of Stonebrook Road; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of this ordinance need to go into
effect immediately to protect the public health, safety and
welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos
Hills does ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. AMENDMENT OF CODE. Section 4-3 . 1201
(Designated) of Article 12 (Truck Traffic Routes) of Title 4
(Public Safety) of the Los Altos Hills Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read:
Section 4-3 . 1201. Designated.
Those streets and parts of streets established by
resolution of the Council and set forth in this section
are hereby declared to be truck traffic routes for the
movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight
of three (3) tons:
(a) Arastradero Road;
(b) Edith Road;
(c) E1 Monte Road from Summerhill Road to Moody Road;
(d) Foothill Expressway;
(e) Fremont Road from Arastradero Road to Edith Road;
(f) Moody Road from El Monte Road to the westerly
limits of the Town;
(g) Page Mill Road; and
(h) Stonebrook Road from E1 Monte Road to Prospect
Road, provided that anyone managing vehicles
exceeding a maximum gross weight of ten (10) tons
on this portion of Stonebrook Road shall manage
these vehicles so that there shall be no
simultaneous two-way traffic of these vehicles.
SECTION 2 . FINDING; EFFECTIVE DATE. The City Council finds
that there is a current and immediate threat to the public
health, safety and welfare of the Town, because Stonebrook Road
between E1 Monte Road and Prospect Road is not reasonable or safe
for the two-way traffic of heavy trucks existing upon said road,
as stated in the recitals to this ordinance. 'Therefore, this
Urgency Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its
adoption.
