HomeMy WebLinkAboutSeptember 21Town of Los Altos Hills Parks and Recreation Committee September 21, 2015 Regular Meeting Final Meeting Minutes Meeting Time: Monday September 21 , 2015 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM Meeting Place: Parks and Recreation Building 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022 1. Call to Order/Roll Call (Quorum = 4) Cochairs present: Scott Vanderlip & Liza Reichert (Hitchner) Members present: Val Metcalfe, Patty Radlo, Champa Sreenivas, Julia Zarcone, Kathy Evans Staff: Sarah Gualtieri - present ; Council Liaison: John Radford - absent Associate Members: Kit Gordon, Rebecca Hickman, Kavita Tankha (all absent) Members of public present: Kjell Karlsson, Nancy Couperus 2. Approval of Past Minutes - (August meeting) a. Modification of members present/absent b. Unanimous approval 3. Public Comments: Open Space Committee request for support on bike regulations in Byrne Preserve a. Julia motioned to adopt the open space committee’s recommendation with the addition of “On Monday September 21 the Los Altos Hills Parks and Recreation committee unanimously passed a motion to support the Open Space Committee’s request to limit the use of the trails surrounding Byrne Preserve with the following addition: No bikes in Byrne Preserve, on the Artemas Ginzton trail, including any ingress and egress from Central Drive to the Artemas Ginzton trail (wooden bridge, steep path to Westwind on Patmore land, river crossing trail to Byrne Park Lane).” b. Motion seconded by Patty c. Sarah will try to get this on the Oct 15th council meeting 4. New member search a. Kathy proposed adding Yoko Hughes as an associate member – unanimous agreement for appointment b. Champa proposed Nina as a potential future associate 5. Update on Building Additional Classroom FLEX space at Town Hall a. Ad-Hoc committee formed: Corrigan and Radford; letter mailed to neighbors within 500 ft of Town Hall b. Sarah is looking into market research firms for a community survey c. P&R committee would like to remain involved in development/planning 6. Parking on pathways at ballfields a. Deficit in parking & safety issue with Little League parking on pathway along Purissima b. Sarah will coordinate a walk-thru of the space with Little League & P&R committee members (Liza, Scott, Patty) 7. LAH Nature Pianos a. Edith park location b. Plan for Spring; set up opening night c. Scott will put together more information for the proposal 8. Signage proposal: signs pointing to destinations in town with mileage a. Krystel Malimban not in attendance – still working on putting together this proposal. Tabled until next meeting. 9. 2015 Events: Hoedown 9/12 – very successful, high attendance Festival of Lights Parade – November 29th Barn Lighting December 6th 2-5p: need volunteers 10. New Business: a. Purissima Park field rental fees i. Proposal of increasing facility rental fees ii. P&R committee recommends a fee structure of $20, $30, $40, $50 for Type III, IV, V, VI organizations respectively iii. Kathy made a motion to approve for 20, 30, 40, 50; Scott seconded; unanimous yes iv. Agreed that P&R should re-review this annually 11. Next Meeting: October 19th, 6 PM Adjourned Time ___7:33______
