Motion Hickman/second Zarcone Meeting Attendance Chair Kathy Evans informed PRC members that attendance at committee meetings is being more closely monitored by the Town. If a member misses 3 consecutive meetings, the member can be asked to leave the committee. If a PRC member is going to be absent, both Kathy Evans and Sarah Gualtieri should be notified. Kathy will email an updated copy of 2013 attendance and to date attendance for 2014 to PRC members. July/December Meetings PRC members discussed whether the July regular meeting should be held. Julia Zarcone stated that nomination and selection of officers usually occurs at the July meeting. Members thought this could be done at the June meeting. Discussion will be continued at the next meeting. The December PRC meeting is canceled. Public Comment Nancy Couperus commented favorably on the signage that has been placed at key areas regarding coyotes. It was recommended by the PRC that additional information boxes be placed near the Packard Trail and near the intersection of Taafe and Elena. Heather Rose proposed to the PRC that she work on establishing a contact list for area schools. This list would be used to help market events, classes and programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department. Also discussed was the reason the Parks and Recreation Department does not use LASD facilities – the department must pay to use the facilities because we charge fees to our participants. Fall/Winter Activity Guide Sarah Gualtieri reported that work of the Fall/Winter Activity Guide will begin shortly, right now she is concentrating on upcoming events. Camps Update The Coding for Kids camp, in partnership with the Krause Center at Foothill College did not do well. Sarah Gualtieri stated that the timing of the class was an issue as it conflicted with local schools’ spring breaks. Also, she thought the class was “too pricey”. Going forward, the Krause Center would like to push the next class back to the summer and also hold it during the morning. The Adult Bootcamp is doing well with 10 people registered. The Riding Camps have 5 plus registrants for each session. Barn manager Tori Dye had an article about her and the barn’s programs in Metro. Westwind Barn Update Barn Manager Tori Dye reported that during the past week there were 6 new boarders at WWB. The hunt field is a success, riders really like the space. The field is very dry and dusty so Tori is requesting some type of irrigation. Lessons are “going well”, Tori feels that lessons are growing at the right pace. Rodent abatement continues to be an ongoing issue at the barn. Nanc y Couperus told the PRC that the 4-H is using CO2 for control but at this time does not know if it will be successful. If the CO2 works, Tori will also use this method. Nancy reported that the weeding project has begun its preliminary stages. Site assessment has been completed, with target zones mapped. There is a schedule for each of the different types of weeds. A demonstration area will be set up so residents and others can understand the project and see the results. Purissima Fields The Town has notified the Los Altos/Los Altos Hills Little League that their water usage agreement is going to be renegotiated. The Little League will be asked to have a greater water cost share. Events Hoppin’ Hounds – Rebecca Hickman is requesting that horses be out of the pasture by 7:45 a.m. on the morning of the event.
