Westwind Barn Update
New barn manager Tori Dye and her assistant Sonali Rathod were introduced to the
members of the PRC. Tori told the PRC that her initial priorities for the barn are to get all
of the paperwork for facility users in order, and next month to get the riding school up
and running.
The YRRP will be advertised in the upcoming Activity Guide. Tori will handle all
scheduling for the program for now.
Tori’s schedule is Tuesday –Saturday. Sarah Gualtieri will also be up at the barn at least
one day per week.
Lower Arena update – work started on January 30; excavation has been done and work
will now begin on the subbase.
Activity Guide
Sarah Gualtieri reported that the Activity Guide should be in resident’s mailboxes by the
end of next week. There will also be a color ad running for four weeks in the Los Altos
Town Crier. Additionally, the Crier will run a story on new Barn Manager Tori Dye.
Sarah is in the process of uploading the class and program offerings for online
registration. Guides will also be placed at various locations in Los Altos and Los Altos
Hills.
Events Update
Preschool Playgroup – Champa Sreenivas has been working on this program. The group
is currently meeting from 9-10 am on Wednesday mornings at Shoup Park. The time is
going to be changed to an earlier start time. Kathy Evans stated that the members of the
Youth Commission wanted to establish a Babysitters List that could be made available to
members of the group.
Earth Day – Per Sarah Gualtieri, market umbrellas will be put up in the courtyard area
due to heat because of the lack of shade.
Pathways Run – This year’s theme is “Tracking Guide”. Tee shirts have been ordered and
are brown with tan print showing the footprints of various animals and humans. Scott
reported that the tagging system used last year will be used again. Online registration will
be available within the next couple of days.
4th of July Parade – a new “point” person is needed for this event
Youth Commission – had their movie night on 2/7; they had a light turn-out which they
feel in part was due to the heavy rain. Preparations are going well for the Leadership
Conference which is scheduled for March 16 at Hidden Villa.
Little League
Little League has been given notice that their contract with the Town will be renegotiated
to address the issue of water share.
Improvements will be made to several of the dugouts this spring.
Little League’s calendar/schedule needs to be communicated to LAHHA.
Brown Act Training
Members of all Town committees are required to take Brown Act training. A class will
be offered Wednesday, March 5 at 6:00 pm. Online training will also be available.
New Business
Rebecca Hickman is currently looking into a location for a Town dog park.
Meeting adjourned at 10:20 am
Next meeting Monday, March 10, 2014 at 9:00 am in the Los Altos Hills Parks and
Recreation Building.
