Meeting Minutes
October 16, 2006
9:30 a,m. Town Hall Chambers

The Committee meeting was opened by Steve Jol-inson at 9:15.

Steve motioned to approve the September 2006 sleeting minutes. The minutes were
unanimously approved as amended
Little League Update
Tod reported that the Little League bleacher project will start in the second week of November. Ben Gil.
said other repairs that also need to be undertaken are: fix backstop on Field 4, and redo drainage of Field
2, Both Tod and Ben reported that a town arena pipe broke after a horse had been tied to it and flooded
Field 1 Ben fixed the pipe.
Guest Mark Becker came on behalf of Little League parents concerned with the condition of the Little
League fields, He wanted to share concerns about the substandard infrastructure at the Little League field
area compared to other fields in the area. Considering how many kids benefit from the :facility there are
relevant safety issues: no fences or barriers separating kids from the road, a need for better parking
organization, and a need to update and improve structural equipment. Mr Becker said he would outline
these concerns in more detail in a letter to the Committee
Westwind Master Plan Committee.
Tod reported that the Committee analyzed the YRRP program and that the Town Council
approved subsidizing the YRRP program.. The Council agreed to 1. Subsidize the
program 2. Pay program horse boarding at Westwind.
Council Goal Setting Session
Mike O'Malley reported on the goal setting session and said that the council is firmly
committed to a path of developing a sports Field that may include a whole recreation area
i e park, playground and picnic area. The Council wants the Committee to assist them in
looking at land options. The council is committed to the project and will explore the
possibility of using bond funds There is also the possibility that this project could tie in
with the refurbishing of'Bullis and the Charter School.
The Council has approved $5 to $10 K in funds to come up with a design for the field.
Approximately 3 acres will be needed. Steve Johnson said he will look into finding a
held design vendor.
October 21 Park Beautification Da at Edith Park
Amber reported that everything was in place for the bulb planting- Steve volunteered to
transport shovels to the site,
October 28 Howloween Dog Event at Westwind
Amber reported that various local newspapers have been notified. 5 Paw Bakery was to
supply the treat biscuits, the Palo Alto Animal Services will have a representative at the
event and the monies raised were to benefit the Palo Alto Animal Shelter
Volunteer -of -the -Year Award
A motion was made to nominate Ben Gikis and Karin Bergh for the Los Altos/Los Altos
Hills Volunteer-of=the-Year Award. The motion was approved unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:45am.
