MEETING OPENED BY Valerie Metcalfe, Chair person, at 9:40 a.m.
in Town Hall chambers.
Approval of minutes was postponed until next meeting.
Valerie and Maureen reported on the past town Hall meeting where Mike O Malley
presented our proposal for improvements to WESTWIND BARN to accommodate the
year round riding program (YRRP). Mike is the Liaison for Parks and Recreation He
stated that as the non-residents move out of the stalls, there will be space for two horses
to be used for the YRRP. The Fall program can begin as soon as there is space for the
two horses loaned by Jane Kawasaki.
Fall programs under way are basketball and soccer as well as other field games .
Discussions followed regarding space needed and available for these programs. A
motion was made to support any available space and we were encouraged to seek other
sites such as St. Nicholas School or other possible surrounding spaces.
NEW BUSINESS;
Jane Kawasaki resigned from the committee to conduct
the YRRP as a private contractor .
Maureen stated that we must allow 75 - 90 days for a replacement supervisor to assume
Jimmy Forbis'
position . She is seeking applicants from other recreation organizations and will report to
this committee when one is found.
Lori Askew proposed that this committee support their proposal for making the Town
Riding Ring useful for their organization as well as for the entire town's use.
Ben Gikis encouraged us to search for any facility with space to share for our
needs....there is a great need for space for sports fields.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
