Review of Committee Minutes of February 10 meeting The minutes of the February 10 meeting were approved by acclamation on a motion by Ron Knapp seconded by Karen Emerzian. Review of Prior City Council Meetings There was no review of prior City Council meetings. Subcommittee Reports A. Roger Burnell announced that a copy of his report to the City Council is available for anyone who would like to view it. B. Special event planning has been postponed for the 2016 event year. C. Special events in the near future include Earth Day on Sunday, April 26, the Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Hoppin Hounds on Saturday, April 4 and the annual Fun Run on Saturday, May 9. Sarah Gualtieri also reported that the Youth Commission has arranged a Dodge Ball Contest for Middle Schoolers and is participating in a Leadership Conference with the Los Altos Youth Commission. D. Roger Burnell will report on the 60th Anniversary Party to the Council at their March 30 meeting. The Los Altos Country Club is reserving Saturday evening, January 30 for the event. Roy Woolsey suggested that the Committee consider other venues such as Fremont Hills or a tent on the Little League Field. The sight lines at the club are difficult for a large group. Roger, Roy, Ron and Karen Emerzian will survey the Club on April 8 at 4:30 p.m. to see if it will work better than it did at the 50th Anniversary Party. Roger has planned to have Robert Strong, a magician perform. There was some discussion about a live band versus a D.J. The Committee seemed in favor of a D.J. because one would be better able to perform a large variety of music. A live combo for the cocktail hour is being considered. Committee members are to think about possible M.C.s and present their ideas at the April meeting. 2015 Picnic Car Show - This will be the eighth year the picnic has included a car show. The field has a total capacity for 47 cars. Bill Downey reported that thus far Tesla has been “non-responsive”. Bob Mabe said that he and Bill are considering having cars from the Arcane Auto Society participate. Members of the Society have unique small cars that would be interesting for residents to view. Bob explained that he and Bill plan to invite the 19 Los Altos Hills residents with antique cars to exhibit first. The remaining spots will be filled by invitation and will include both past exhibitors and members of the Arcane auto Society. Barbara Waldeck made a motion that the Car Show include Los Altos Hills residents first, then Arcane cars and out-of-town exhibitors. Karen Emerzian seconded the motion. All were in favor. Music – Ron Knapp has been working on getting a contract with the Andre Thierry band negotiated and signed so that the Town can send them a deposit. He and Sarah will get it finalized this week. Food – Mavericks has offered to include white meat chicken for an additional $.50 per person. The total contract is $15,843.75 or $6.25 per person. The budget allows $16,000 for food. A motion was made by Barbara Waldeck to accept the Mavericks contract with white chicken meat added to the menu. Karen Emerzian seconded the motion. All were in favor. Entertainment – Gary Waldeck has arranged for the County helicopter to be displayed in the field with the Car Show again this year. Bob Mabe asked to have the helicopter arrive before the cars in order to seep from getting dust all over the cars. Barbara Waldeck will ask Gary to have the helicopter arrive about 10 a.m. Sarah Gualtieri is making arrangements for the petting zoo, the clown, face painting, climbing wall and the inflatables. Karen Emerzian reported that Nick French and his wife, Michelle, are planning to do the games again this year. Sarah had a quote from Mary Kear for the rentals that is unchanged from last year. She said she would call the Gunn robotics program and ask them to participate. Old Business As always, the committee needs new members. There are three openings. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. The next meeting is on April 14th. Respectfully Submitted, Barbara Waldeck, Secretary
