Welcoming of Town Newcomers Patty Woolsey reported that only ten newcomer names were received since the last Committee meeting, so newcomer mailing labels will be submitted to Town Hall next month. 4. Hidden Villa Summer Concert Series Marc Sidel of Hidden Villa discussed the summer concert series with the Committee. Concerts will be July 15 (Joe Sherino Band), July 22, August 5 and August 19. Hidden Villa would like help with publicity in Town, to attract Los Altos Hills residents to the concerts. The Committee can feature the concerts in the June Newsletter, and the Committee encouraged Marc to organize a table about Hidden Villa and the concerts for the Town Picnic. Marc would like input from the Committee on other bands, and he may make a presentation to the next Committee meeting. He proposed receptions for Los Altos Hills residents from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM before the concerts, the last three of which would be held at the Duveneck house to keep these receptions somewhat separate from the concerts which are open to the public. The Committee agreed to support the receptions. Committee members can help serve wine; Lisa Kellman can arrange for help to serve cheese and soft drinks. 5. Presentation of Colors/Pledge of Allegiance at Council Meetings Lisa Kellman reported that boy- and girl-scout troops are being contacted to arrange for the presentation of colors at some Council meetings. 6. Request for Volunteers for Pathway Run Roy Woolsey reported on Scott Vanderlip’s request for help on Saturday morning, May 12 for the Fun Run. Karen Emerzian might be able to help. Duffy Price said that John Harpootlian might be able to help. Lisa Kellman might be able to arrange for some help from the high school, particularly if food such as coffee cake is provided. 7. Los Altos Hills Town Newsletter Duffy Price distributed copies of the March Town Newsletter, which should be delivered to residents on March 1. The Committee will review the Newsletter in its meeting next month; the initial comment was that the Newsletter is terrific. 8. Status of Memo from Committee Chair to Council 2 Roy Woolsey reported that the February 22 Council meeting had been cancelled, and that the memo discussing the Committee’s charges and duties might be discussed in the March 8 Council meeting. 9. Discussion of Town Website Nick Osborne asked that all Committee members look at the Websites of Hillsborough, Los Gatos and Saratoga and e-mail Nick and the rest of the website subcommittee any comments that can be used as a basis to offer suggestions for improvements to the Los Altos Hills Town website. 10. Planning for 2007 Town Picnic Roy Woolsey reported that the Picnic proposal will likely be presented to and approved by Council at its March 8 meeting. Ron Knapp has an e-mail quote from the band, and will confirm the band’s requested size for the stage. Roger Burnell reported that David Wilson’s contract is in process, but that he has not been able to reach the vendor for the inflatable attractions. Roy reported that the model trains are arranged for the Picnic. Duffy Price volunteered to help coordinate pony rides for the Picnic. Bill Downey and Bob Mabe were introduced to the Committee. Bob believes at least 30 antique cars can appear at the Picnic. Bob will contact the owners to make arrangements, and then a letter should be prepared by Bill, Bob and the Committee, and sent out by the City Clerk to those owners who plan to bring their cars to the Picnic. Each owner and one spouse/guest will receive lunch tickets, based on the list of owners which Bob will compile. Each car should have an area approximately 18’ x 25’ on grass, and it was agreed by the Committee that Little League Field # 1 should be used for the car show, which will make for a nice event flow between the pony rides on the Town riding ring and the other Picnic attractions on Field # 2. Bob can arrange for a 1929 county fire engine, a few tractors, and cars from high school automotive shops. Bill would like to hang a 2’ x 6’ sign about the June 24 car event on the fence by Field # 1 and leave it there for a period before and after the picnic. Some internal combustion engines might be displayed on a couple of 4’ x 8’ tables under a 10’ x 10’ canopy. Roy drew a high level map of the riding ring and fields # 1 and 2 on the easel, and the Committee discussed locations of attractions. Roy described the complaints received in past years from residents who couldn’t hear conversations when bands with amplified sound were used, and strongly recommended the band be placed near the fence by the snack bar where the electric outlets are located. The Committee approved Roy’s proposed memo to other Committees about the Picnic. Duffy Price will order five date inserts (Sun, June 3, 1-4 pm) for the Picnic banners. All Committee members should be prepared at the next Committee meeting to volunteer for the various Picnic subcommittees. 11. Historical Preservation and Town Historian/Historical Commission Duffy Price noted that Appendix A to the General Plan will include information about archival sites. Duffy will prepare a draft for the committee working on the General Plan for use in this appendix. Duffy noted that several Town residents might be interested in serving on a historical commission. 12. Additional Items or Contributions from Committee Members None. 13. Date for Next Meeting and Adjournment The next Committee meeting will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2007. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
