Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, February 15, 2005
Bullis School Multipurpose Room
1. Roll Call
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by Chairman, Roy Woolsey. Present: Chairman,
Roy Woolsey. Members, Ron Knapp, Patty Woolsey, Barbara Lamparter, Roger Burnell, Karen
Emerzian. Associate Member, Dan Alexander. Council Liaison, Jean Mordo.
2. Review of Prior Committee Minutes
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as distributed.
3. Welcoming of Town Newcomers
Patty Woolsey reported that not enough newcomer names were received last month to make a
sheet of 20 mailing labels, so labels will be submitted to Town Hall next month.
4. Los Altos Hills Town Newsletter
Roy Woolsey reported that Duffy Price has received a large number of articles for the March
Newsletter, so the Newsletter will be a big publication. A draft pdf file of the Newsletter will be
distributed to associate editors for review in a few days.
5. Public Education in Los Altos Hills
Roger Burnell summarized his recent efforts towards mediation of the public education
issues in Town. Roger reported that he has received encouraging responses from some of those
he has been working with, and he is optimistic he will have significant progress to report in the
Committee meeting next month.
6. Relay for Life
The Committee will stimulate interest in the Relay for Life through coverage in the Town
Newsletter. Roger Burnell will contact the Parks and Recreation Committee about the possibility of
partnering with that Committee to field a team for the Relay for Life. The Committee will make a final
decision regarding its involvement in the Relay for Life next month.
7. New Town Hall Dedication Event
The Committee agreed that there should be a big event for the dedication of the New Town Hall.
Discussion of this matter was continued to the Committee meeting next month, at which time we should
have a better estimate of when an event might want to be held.

8. Initial Planning for Town Picnic
Roy Woolsey reported that he sent a letter to Art Marshall of the Fire Department to confirm the
date of June 5 for the Town Picnic, and to provide a draft Town Crier article for his information. Roy
also confirmed by e-mail with Ye Olde Towne Band that the Band would perform at the Picnic.
Roger Burnell reported on his research regarding a variety of candidates for entertainment at the
picnic. Of a variety of entertainers described by Roger, the Committee seemed somewhat interested in
Magic Mike, who does a 30 - 45 minute show for $300, strolling for $250/hr and a combination of both
for $500. Roger encouraged Committee members to look at his website www.magictimeproductions.com.
Roger discussed another vendor, Nick and Louise Goldern, who rents a number of adult games that the
Committee might arrange in addition to Magic Mike.
The Committee agreed that the Lionel Train Association should be invited to participate again
this year, for a $100 donation from the Town, and Dan Alexander is making the arrangements for the
trains. It was suggested that if train participants or band members bring family, that the family be fed
meals only after 3 PM and only if enough food looks like it will be available. It was suggested that we
might have a massage therapist give short massages, as another attraction at the picnic.
Ron Knapp volunteered to handle all of the beverages at the Picnic, with help from Barbara
Lamparter. Roy Woolsey will send a memo to other committee chairs regarding the Picnic, will order
inserts for the Town Picnic banners with the date of June 5, and will coordinate with the City Clerk
regarding a Council meeting with a light agenda at which the Committee might present its picnic
proposal.
9. Other/Special Events Which the Committee Might Organize
Roger Burnell reported that a Foothill College staff member handles summer events at the
College. The Committee might consider an event in the July or August time frame, and will consider the
matter further next month.
10. Additional Items or Contributions from Committee Members
Dan Alexander circulated a letter from the Supporters of Westwind Community Barn
encouraging the use of funds from the Park Bonds Acts to help construct a community room at Westwind
Barn.
Dan also announced that the Los Altos Hills Historical Society will have an interesting program
on the Bracewell Radio Observatory on March 6 from 3 to 5 PM in the Bullis Multipurpose room.
Roy Woolsey noted that the Council approved a volunteer recognition dinner for Friday, April 8.
11. Date for Next Meeting and Adjournment
The next Committee meeting will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2005. The meeting
was adjourned at 8:45 PM.
