Roll Call: ● Meeting was called to order at 7:12pm by Chair, Ms. Rose. ● Committee members (4 of 6): Heather Rose (chair), Karen Schuster (secretary), Kay Randall, Kristin Russell-Happ ● Guests (2): Council member, Gary Waldeck, Lawrence Jau 2. Public Comments: ● Lawrence would like to join the committee because he would like to make an impact in the town he grew up in. Lawrence was in 5th grade when Bullis-Purisima closed and attended 6th grade at Covington, 7th to 8th at Egan and high school at Gunn. As a new college graduate he can most closely relate to students in Los Altos Hills. 3. Interface Procedures between Sheriff to Schools and Schools to Parents During Emergencies with special guest Council Member Gary Waldeck: ● A phone call goes out to the affected area to notify citizens of the danger being a mountain lion and or fire. ● The Heritage house is our emergency operations center. Also, there is the Emergency Communications Committee, HAM radio operators and CERT. They coordinate supplies to bring into the area. ● In an emergency scenario the local schools would call the LAHS staff run Emergency Communications Committee. Schools (and churches) then become a resource center where the city delivered supplies for the citizens. ● Is there geographical information about our local schools on hand to share with first responders? 4. Minutes from June, 2015 meeting approved ● Motion made to approve minutes from October. Kristin Russell moved to approve the minutes. Duly seconded. Motion Carries unanimously. 5. Update on PAUSD EMAC Recommendations to redistrict LAH from Nixon to Juana Briones/Barron Park: ● Move the kids living west of foothill to Juana Briones/Barron Park. ● Juana Briones would be a traditional school and Barron Park would a choice school. ● Barron Park does not want this change due to neighborhood and the current changes being made to the school. ● Nixon was a motivating factor when residents purchased homes in Los Altos Hills. Final – approved 12/15/15 ● Bus service is not preferable for younger students. ● Add portables and be stricter with overflow problems ● Add a 13th school? ● Middle School Jr. High’s are up to capacity add more buildings and portables for more capacity. 6. Feedback from Gardner Bullis community on walk/bike map routes to school: ● Kristin Russell will gather the papers and organize. ● She will give the final documents to Richard in the city. 7. Update on LASD/Town crosswalk for Gardner Bullis: ● Town made changes to crosswalk ● Superintendent made a formal request for a Crossing Guard. 8. District Updates: LASD, MVLA, BCS, PAUSD ● MVLA: Pre-enrollment has begun ● PAUSD: Shuttle service for around town ● LASD: Superintendent made a formal request for a Crossing Guard ● BCS: will publish their project based model 9. Input Suggestions for Town Survey based Committee recommendations to improve routes to school: ● Survey of who is in the city at what time? ● Ages of our children in the area? 10. Adjourn: 9:06pm
