Moved: Gary Waldeck Second: Jerry Tomanek 2) Rick Ellinger reported on the recent Los Altos drill which he attended. This led to a discussion of the new Los Altos tower which contains no amateur radio antennas. 3) Gary Waldeck repeated his report that the equipment plan for CERTS trailer needed revision. Three single band radios (2 Meters, 220, and 440) should be substituted for the three dual band radios in the current plan. This is to avoid conflict in using the single antenna. Scott Overstreet noted that all three radios and those for the alternate EOC at the Foothill fire station should have the same control interface to avoid confusion during emergency operation. Progress in implementing the alternate EOC is waiting for Michael Sanders, fire department emergency coordinator, to pass our plan to fire department management. 4) Al Whaley, assistant district emergency coordinator (ADEC), reported on the discussion at the county level of operating drills under ARES, RACES or ACS. There will be a county drill on September 6th. The county is developing a policy that in an emergency volunteer amateurs, who have not been trained in net procedures will not be included in the net but sent to the emergency volunteer center (EVC). 5) Dru Anderson, SPECS president, urged greater participation by the members of the committee in the Monday night SPECS net. She also noted that net script will change to add more variety to the check in. 6) Dru Anderson gave the report of the nominating committee: For Chairman Edwin Jones Moved: Dru Anderson Second: Jim Abraham Elected by voice vote For Vice Chairman Scott Overstreet Moved: Jim Abraham Second: Bob Anderson Elected by voice vote For Secretary Jerry Tomanek Moved: Dru Anderson Second: Gary Waldeck Elected by voice vote 3/3 7) Scott Overstreet did the SPECS check in for the group. 8) Edwin Jones, Chairman elect, suggested that the meeting night be moved to the 3rd Tuesday because of a personal conflict. Jerry Tomanek stated that he needed to consider his other activities before accepting the office. 9) Rick Ellinger, EC, stated that he wished to retire as EC. Since the county appoints the EC he suggested that the committee recommend a member to the county. It was the opinion of the group that the committee recommends the new chairman as the new EC. 10) Dru Anderson suggested that in the future we start our participation in some county drills one hour early for local activity before joining the county operation. 11) Meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM Moved Jim Abraham Second Jerry Tomanek Respectfully submitted, Edwin Jones LAHECC Secretary
