Bob Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the November meeting (with date of battery exchange changed to the January meeting), seconded by Ray Egan and passed. Ed Jones reported that it is Los Altos Hills’s responsibility to run the January Southern Peninsula Emergency Communication System weekly nets. Ed Jones volunteered for Jan 5, Gary Waldeck for Jan 12, Rick Ellinger for Jan 19, and Dru Anderson for Jan 26. Ray Egan reported on the status of installing an antenna at the La Cresta water tank site. He believed (according to Steve Garcia) that the project would be completed by Christmas. He also reported that the Purissima Hills Water District is in the process of choosing a certified welder. Sam Wood explained that galvanization for the project, as it is for outdoor use, should be of the “hot dipped” variety. Ed Jones reported on the status of equipping the Foothill College fire station to serve as a second emergency operations center. He and Steve Garcia are planning to present the case for the antenna at the fire station to the Santa Clara Fire Department at its board of directors meeting in January. Dru Anderson reminded the committee that the annual Southern Peninsula Emergency Communications System meeting will take place on January 17 at 8am in the El Camino Hospital cafeteria. The Southern Valley Emergency Communications System quarterly breakfast will take place on January 24 at 9am in the Santa Clara Senior Center. SPECS will also be holding a one-day “cram” session for amateur radio licensing on January 24 at the First Baptist Church in Los Altos. The committee introduced itself to attending Mayor Rich Larsen. Bob Anderson moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:36 pm, seconded by Gary Waldeck and passed. Respectfully submitted, Miles Seiver LAHECC Member (filling in for Jerry Tomanek, secretary)
