3) Dru Anderson reported that the engineer for the water company had finished the antenna
support design and the job was now out for bid. Gary Waldeck noted that the problem
was an attachment to the water tank that would properly secure the antenna tower but
not damage the water tank in the event of failure. There was some concerned discussion
whether the connection would work loose during wind and cause a grounding problem.
The conclusion was that there would be no problem, if the installation was done properly.
4) Jim Abraham and Scott Overstreet were very concerned about access to the repeater.
The water company has changed the lock and we do not have the access to the repeater
required of FCC regulations for control operators. The water company has promised a
fancy electronic lock in the future; but if we do not get access immediately we must shut
the repeater down if the control operator doesn’t have access. Jim is the registered
control operator.
5) Mike Sanders, Emergency Services Coordinator for the Santa Clara County Fire
Department, attended the meeting to discuss the new emergency supply trailer being
installed at the Foothill Fire Station. Radio equipment for the trailer has been purchased
but the antennas are still to be determined. Also discussed was a fixed antenna at the fire
station. Since an antenna on the fire station building must be approved and installed by
the Santa County Communication Department, this will require considerable coordination.
Rick Ellinger, Scott Overstreet and Gary Waldeck volunteered to meet with Mike to start
the process.
6) Miles Seiver and Scott Overstreet did the 8:00 PM SPECS net check in for those
attending the meeting.
7) Meeting adjourned at 8:05PM
Moved Bob Anderson
Second Sam Wood
8) Technical discussions continue following 8 o’clock adjournments and tonight was about
building mobile radio stations.
Respectfully submitted,
Edwin Jones
