The meeting was called to order by Chair Ed Jones at 7:00 pm.
Jim Abraham moved to approve the minutes of the October meeting, seconded by Dru Anderson
and passed.
Ray Egan reported on the status of installing an antenna at the La Cresta water tank site. He
believed the contractor might be on site within the week but there is no time line for the
project. Once the antenna is installed we will use the existing antenna until coverage
tests and coordination trials are complete, tasks that might require 60 days. Jim Abraham
will be in charge of these tasks. It was noted that we should file the test data for future
reference. Jim Abraham and Scott Overstreet will supervise the connection of coax to the
radio equipment on site.
Gary Waldeck reported on the status of equipping the Foothill College fire station to serve as a
second emergency operations center. The antenna we proposed was not approved. Dru
Anderson moved that we have Chair Ed Jones meet with Town manager Carl Cahill and
safety officer Steve Garcia to discuss other locations at Foothill College and regain
momentum on this project. Gary Waldeck seconded and the motion passed.
Al Whaley reported that he would install an Alinco radio in the emergency operations center and
invite all of us to evaluate it before we decide to install it in the emergency trailer.
Al Whaley also provided an update on county programs. There will be formal certification of
mutual aid volunteers and a beta stage website to show their training status.
Under old business, Rick Ellinger noted that batteries for the electronic flares will be exchanged
for fresh ones at the next meeting.
Under new business, Rick passed out a pamphlet on preparing for a pandemic flu outbreak and
discussed a county plan for coordinating spontaneous volunteers.
The December meeting of this committee will include some social time and refreshments. Ed
Jones will see about reserving the Recreation room for this event.
Dru Anderson reported that Ed Jones and some assistants did a good job training CERT
volunteers on radio communications.
Bob Anderson moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:52 pm, seconded by Jim Abraham and passed.
Respectfully submitted,
Jerry Tomanek
LAHECC Secretary
