Bob Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the February and March meetings, Jim Abraham seconded and the motion passed. Council Liaison Rich Larsen introduced three AT&T representatives invited to give a special presentation on plans for the town’s cellular telephone network. AT&T distributed RF maps of the town network. The maps included coverage and cell tower locations (both current and proposed). AT&T stated that it is interested in engaging in conversations about collocation of emergency communication antennas on current cell towers in exchange for town support on future cell towers. The ECC responded that it would be willing to provide public advocacy on proposed cell sites. AT&T mentioned three cell sites, in specific, that were under consideration: Burke Lane, Black Mountain Road, and Alexis Drive. The presentation concluded at 7:45 pm. Al Whaley reported on assistance from Amateur Radio operators during the recent county response to telephone fiber vandalism. One major issue is coverage; more mobile radios are needed in the county. Another issue is facilitating notification of volunteers when phones are down. The committee agreed that more training for these sorts of situations is necessary. Al Whaley noted that he didn’t feel that there is much mutual aid (MAC) or county volunteer interest in the town. In response, Chair Ed Jones described some new MAC developments. There is a new integrated site that allows an Amateur Radio operator to check his or her MAC status. The URL for this site is: http://www.scc-ares-races.org/activities/events.php Background checks for the MAC program are now handled through Live Scan. Ray Egan reported that he had no updates on the status of the CERT trailer. Chair Ed Jones discussed the upcoming April 29 drill involving CERT, ECC, town staff, and county staff. The CERT trailer will be located at the old Bullis School site. The event will begin at 5:30pm. Bob Anderson moved to adjourn at 8:45 pm, Jim Abraham seconded and the motion passed. Respectfully submitted, Miles Seiver Acting LAHECC Secretary
