Bob Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the December meeting, Gary Waldeck seconded and the motion passed. We welcomed Bob Rowe as a new member of the committee. Ed Jones announced that there would be a county wide drill on Saturday, January 24, beginning at 1 pm. He asked committee members to check in via radio beginning at 2 pm. Ed also announced that the county web site is being revised but is still a work in progress. Finally he noted that the Monday night check in features a packet radio check in prior to 8 pm on 144.910. New batteries were exchanged for old ones in the electric road flares during the meeting. Rick Ellinger reported that the old ones will be tested by the manufacturer to see how they have held up over time. Scott Overstreet reported on the evaluation of radios to be used in the alternate EOC and emergency trailers by himself and Ed Jones. They found the Alinco radio to be adequate, easy to use without a manual, takes less space than the Kenwood and is cheaper. Scott moved to approve the Alinco for these sites, Bob Anderson seconded and the motion passed. At 7:10 pm Chair Jones and Gary Waldeck had to leave for a meeting with County Fire and Dru Anderson assumed the role of Chair. Council liason Rich Larsen reported that he would be going to Sacramento for some training and would be doing the ham cram class on Saturday to get his Technician license. The ATT request to erect a cell tower in the Robleda and Duval area was approved by the council. It will not feature antennas for ham use. It was reported that welding has begun at the La Cresta water tower site and should be finished by February 6. It was noted that we need to order some supplies to equip new members. We need to check on the current color to be used for the vests. Andy Kirk noted that the permit fee to erect a tower under 50 feet is $1,800. Bob Hall expressed concern over handling large animals in emergencies, feeling that there need to be more volunteers. Rick Ellinger moved that we notify Steve Garcia that this topic has come to our attention but is not our area of responsibility. Bob Anderson seconded and the motion passed. Rick will draft a letter for Ed Jones to sign and send to Steve. Jerry Tomanek moved to adjourn the meeting, Rick Ellinger seconded and the motion passed at 8:25 pm.
