Chairman Ed Jones called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.
Gary Waldeck moved to approve the minutes of the August meeting, Jim Abraham seconded,
and the motion passed.
Ed Jones and Al Whaley provided an update on County matters. The updated MAC training
program which now includes levels of expertise is nearing completion. There will be a
MAC drill on 9/19/09 in Los Gatos.
Committee members volunteered to act as net control on the weekly town net: 9/21 Andy
Fawcett, 9/28 Bob Rowe, 10/5 Al Whaley, and 10/12 Andy Kirk.
Scott Overstreet presented an overview of the various town antennas available to the committee.
There are three HAM antennas on the roof of the Emergency Operations Center at the
Heritage House: a Diamond X-510, a Comet CX-333, and an Anten-X. There are four
HAM antennas on the “tree” cell tower next to the EOC: three Diamond X-50s, and a
Diamond X-3200. All antennas on the tree terminate in a closet outside of the EOC. Scott
Overstreet recommended to the town that the best way to open up space for a new
Verizon cell antenna would be to switch its position of two of the current amateur radio
antennas on the tree.
Scott Overstreet reported that he is continuing to analyze the results from the 8/22/09 ECC drill to
map out town repeater coverage.
The committee discussed the status of the search for an alternative EOC. Al Whaley mentioned
the upcoming county plan to join HAMs and community colleges. Gary Waldeck
suggested police chief Ron Levine as a good contact at Foothill College. Miles Seiver
noted that the town emergency trailers are still in need of antennas, radios, and a formal
operational plan. Chairman Ed Jones tabled further discussion of an alternative EOC for
the next committee meeting.
Jim Abraham suggested that the committee create a new frequency list which can be used for
standardizing town-issued radios.
At 8:14 pm Jim Abraham moved to adjourn the meeting, Bob Rowe seconded, and the motion
passed.
Respectfully submitted,
Miles Seiver
LAHECC Secretary
