Ray Egan welcomed Bill Gibbons and Jim Heintzelman as new members of the LAH ECC and introduced Gary Waldeck as the new ECC council liaison. Jim Abraham introduced a presentation from Andy Fawcett on packet radio. Fawcett also demonstrated a working packet setup. There are such stations in both the LAH EOC and at the CERT ARC located at the Foothill Fire Station. Bob Anderson motioned to approve draft November 2010 and December 2010 LAH ECC minutes. Jim Abraham seconded and the motion passed. Dru Anderson invited everyone at the meeting to the 2011 annual SPECS meeting on January 29 at El Camino Hospital. Doors will open at 9 am. Duncan MacMillan shared the J-Pole antenna he uses with his HT radio. They are available for purchase at Sunnyvale ARES meetings and at the Electronics Flea Market at De Anza College. Edwin Jones reported that he had 2011 DSW stickers for distribution. He also informed the ECC of a recent change to the SCC ARES/RACES database which requires ARES/RACES members to go online and check that their information is current. Jones will be at the LAH EOC on December 22 for a quarterly ARES/RACES drill. The county will be offering a class on packet radio on February 5, 2011. Miles Seiver informed the committee that he would no longer be able to work on creating a new website for the ECC and opened a discussion to determine next steps. Ray Egan proposed that a ECC website may not be necessary given the static nature of the information that would be posted and the fact that most of it can be found on other websites which are updated more often. Egan suggested that an email be sent out periodically including information on upcoming drills, a recent ECC roster, and other pertinent information for the group. Each email would also include a listing of important websites for committee members. Duncan MacMillan noted that the LAH Education Committee has a space on the official Town website which is updated frequently. Scott Overstreet surveyed the group to determine how many members have amateur radios in their cars. Approximately half the group has an amateur radio in their car. Scott encouraged the ECC to make more use of the Town repeater. Mike Price offered some information on the January 29th CERT/HAM drill. CERT members will be asked to survey their neighborhoods and report back to the ARC. The purpose of the drill is to determine how quickly and effectively the Town can survey itself following a disaster. Packet communication will be used between the ARC and EOC. Egan circulated a list asking for members to sign-up to volunteer for the drill. Bob Anderson will be stationed at the Purissima Hills Water District. At 8:21 pm Bob Anderson moved to adjourn the meeting. Jim Abraham seconded and the motion passed. Respectfully submitted, Miles Seiver LAH ECC Secretary
