1.Roll Call: At 1902 hours, Dru KG6LAD called the meeting to order. Ben KK6HH
took the roll call: Attendance: 15 including 7 members, 1 Council Liaison,5
associates and 2 guests. Jay Sutaria joined us shortly after 1940, increasing the
attendance to 16.
2.Minutes approved: After Scott N6NXI moved to approve the March 2019 minutes
and Sam K6MSR seconded the motion, the minutes were approved with a
unanimous voice vote.
3.Council Liaison Kavita Tankha indicated that she had nothing to report at this time.
4.Public comments from the floor:
(a)Robert KG6UWZ requested assistance for a function with Town’s staff next

month to showcase radio communication in an emergency. Neil K2LL offered to
lend out LAHCFD radios pre-programmed with FRS frequencies for staff
members to practice. Dru indicated she would follow up off line.
(b)Dru asked anyone who is interested in helping the Los Altos & Los Altos Hills
History Committees to put up an exhibit about radio history. The first such
meeting will take place at Los Altos Hillview center April 4 between 1-3pm. Dru
and Eduardo indicated they planned to attend.
5.Tech Talk
(a)The First 30 minutes when an emergency occurs: Duncan KI6VMY made an
excellent Power Point presentation about the proper procedure to handle the
phone/text/radio response in the those first 30 minutes. The talk was well
received, and his presentation slides will be distributed to the group.
6.Old Business
(a)Dru reported that Eduardo KM6LSX and she have been working on the update
of the currency of the list of associate members. All currently listed associates
have met the LAH town DSW requirements. Robert KG6UWZ responded that he
would like to be an associate. Scott N6NXI then moved to appoint Robert. The
motion, seconded by Sam K6MSR and Eduardo, was approved without dissent.
(b)Later in the meeting, guest Jay Sutaria, who is in the process of getting a ham
license, expressed interest and was invited by Co-chair Dru to consider joining
as a member of the committee. He indicated he will contact the City Clerk for
further information and application.
(c)Mauri KM6LXC will provide information, including the costs, on a new lime-green
ECC vest standard that conforms to the new County regulations, at the next May
meeting.
7.New Business
(a)Mauri said she is willing to take on additional responsibility of implementing and
operating a lending procedure for radio books donated by Larry KE6AGJ. In
addition, Larry expressed his intent to donate some amateur radio equipment,
including software defined radio (SDR) to the ECC for volunteer use.
(b)Dru called for volunteers for a joint Los Altos/Los Altos Hills and County
Emergency Preparation planning for the Scout Jamboree-on-the-Air in the fall,
followed by exhibits showcasing the history in the Los Altos/Los Altos Hills area
of ham radios in emergency. She and Eduardo plan to attend the first meeting
April 4 at Los Altos Hillview center.
(c)In preparation for the annual ECC committee report to Council May 16, Dru
stated that she and Eduardo plan to highlight the joint efforts for synergistic
activities of ECC and CERT. She asked for inputs and comments prior.
8.ECC Activities and related
(a)Neil K2LL, EC, distributed to all present new “training” badges intended to track
the qualifications of specific radio tasks, such as NCO, or Packets.
(b)Neil also asked for volunteers for the following four events:

1.SPECS Flea Market on April 13. Assignments begin as early as 3 a.m.
2.The LAH Pathway run on May 11.
3.A County/City drill on May 18.
4.The July 4th LAH parade.
(c)Mauri plans to update the equipment inventory status for report at the next
meeting, and will also bring thoughts about new vests, and a check-out process
for the new “donor” library, initiated by Larry Carr, for use by the volunteers.
(d)David WQ1K reported on his discussions with the LAH repeater group regarding
a microwave dish at the current W6LAH repeater site to serve as a relay link
between the EOCs of the County and LAH Town, via broadband WebEOC. He
is continuing his discussions with the LAH Town manager, and also is in the
process, with the help of Neil K2LL, to initiate dialogue with the County. He and
Neil will develop a cost estimate as well as an estimate of equipment needs.

10. Adjourn: At 20:38, the meeting was adjourned on a motion made by Sam K6MSR,
seconded by Terry KM6LTQ, and approved unanimously.
