Review of Planning Commission Meeting
There were 4 items – all of interest
1. Lin: Esperanza. Sandy Humphries objected to the water conduits on the roof and
the pipes from the roof being of copper. The Commissioners approved the plan,
but the builder, unsolicited, offered to change from copper to another material.
2. Khan: Robleda: The Commissioners agreed to a plan which had garages on each
side of the house, necessitating 2 driveways, both in the side setbacks. The
applicant agreed that l garage was in the basement to change the MDA/MFA of
the site.
3. Liu: Edgerton/Ursula: Changes have been made to the plans, one requiring a 13 ft
retaining wall to accommodate the driveway. Neighboring residents will appeal
to the council, again objecting to the house size permitted on this very restricted
flag lot.
4. 4. Pre-zoning of an unincorporated lot: An unincorporated area of 12.79 acres,
surrounded on 3 sides by L.A.H., has been divided into11 lots. One lot-owner has
applied for pre-zoning, enabling him to attach to the Town sewage line. His
application will be appealed.
Sandy Humphries, our Committee’s representative at the P.C. meetings, stated how much
she appreciated the presence and support at these meetings of our Council Liaison,
Ginger Summit.
Review of Site Development/ Fast Track meetings:
Only one was of note: Neela Shukla reported that her March 3rd meeting concerning the
new house at Alexandra Place lasted for 90 minutes, 8 neighbors objecting to the modern
styling of the house before approval. The architect, at the suggestion of Shukla, will send
them scale drawings of the house, showing landscape mitigation, house height etc.
Future Commitments:
We have agreed to have a stand at both Earthday at Westwind Barn on Sunday April 19th
and at the town Picnic on June1st.
Other Business:
There will be a meeting on Tuesday March 31st at 6 pm with Mr. Schillings concerning
changes in Lighting Ordinances.
A tour with Tom Klope of a special water-saving garden in Portola Valley has been
postponed. Techniques are evolving so fast that changes are being made to the system.
Photographs taken of the flooding at the building lot at Page Mill/Story Hill in February
were sent to John Harpootlian and Debbie Pedro. The Planning and Engineering
Departments replied that both the applicant and the Departments were aware of the
situation and had plans to handle the water.
Meeting adjourned 7:15 pm.
