Minutes of Regular Meeting – April 10, 2018

1. Call to Order Carol Gottlieb called the meeting to order at 5:35 pm.
2. Presentations from the Floor Nancy handed out a flier about an upcoming forum – May 1st
– on earthquakes. She also suggested that the Committee consider at its next meeting how to
treat vineyards in open space.
3. Committee Dates of Interest & Assignments
Committee: Tuesday, May 8, 2018 @ 5:30 pm
Council: April 19, 2018 @ 6 pm
Planning Commission: May 3, 2018 @ 7 pm
Field Trips: April 20th and May 4th
Fast Track/Site Development Meetings: Tuesday, April 17 (Ed)), April 24 (Nancy), May 1
(Carol), May 8 (Ed)
4. Old Business
Tree Ordinance: Nothing new to report
Los Altos Hills Landscape Recommendations Guide: Peter will include heights of trees to aid
residents in selection of best screening trees and will then submit the Guide to staff
Outdoor Lighting: Still in queue to be reviewed by the Planning Commission
Metal Roof Ad Hoc Group: Appears to be the next item in line (after current projects) to be
reviewed by the Planning Commission. No date announced.
EDPC Presentation to Council: The presentation at the March 22nd Council meeting was well
received.
5. New Business
The minutes of the March 13, 2018 meeting were approved unanimously.
Beautification of Entrances to Town - proposed by Duffy Price. Members were requested to
consider the type of sign and locations for the next meeting.
String Lighting: The EDPC recommends that string lighting be included in the Outdoor Lighting
Policy – that these lights should not be considered permanent lighting and that the
bulbs need to be frosted. Members (those present) voted in favor of this recommendation.
Town Picnic – Members of the EDPC will plan to have booth at the Town Picnic of June 3rd.
Field Trip Meeting Place Change of Venue – The venue for field trips has changed from the
Town Hall Kitchen to the Heritage House. Monthly EDPC night meetings will continue to be
held in the Kitchen.
Review of Field Trips
March 16, 2018 10570 Blandor Way – Metal roof reflectivity needs to be reviewed; home
should be single story; an open space slope easement is recommended
March 16, 2018 25380 Becky Way – rear slope to Moody has a lot of mature trees; a
2-story home will change the character of the neighborhood; all land-
scaping should be retained; metal roof; light pollution could be a problem
March 16, 2018 26644 Purissima – proposed addition to garage; moving barn out of
setback to be an accessory building; screening needed for addition;
string lighting in back yard; eucalyptus may need to be removed
depending upon type
March 23, 2018 24100 Hillview Road – creek on neighboring property; riparian habitat
should be protected; existing trees already provide screening
March 23, 2018 27477 Edgerton Road – location requires a lot of screening; recommend
moving garage toward Natoma to shorten driveway; pool is in dripline of
oaks and should be moved; recommend working with neighbors
March 23, 2018 26088 Duval Way – single story on existing footprint
April 6, 2018 25541 Fremont Road – frontage is barren; oak trees along the road are
recommended
April 6, 2018 12825 Viscaino Road – substandard lot; extremely steep – probably active
landslide; recommend moving pool and 3-car garage; large open space
easement recommended on 45% slope
April 6, 2018 12841 La Cresta – trees not identified; pepper trees to be retained; metal
roof; slope easement recommended
Review of Fast Track/Site Development Meetings
March 20, 2018 26960 Orchard Hill – landscape screening along driveway; swimming pool
will need screening; approved with conditions
March 20, 2018 26810 Ortega – two oak trees in front – staff will review
March 27, 2018 24183 Dawnridge Drive – landscape screening – perimeter fencing is
being removed but an area near creek will have non-permeable fencing;
plants that EDPC recommended will replace ones that had been proposed
Planning Commission Meeting – April 5 – reviewed briefly
Council Meeting – March 22 – reviewed briefly
