HomeMy WebLinkAboutJune 12Los Altos Hills Environmental Design and Protection Committee Town Hall Kitchen Minutes of Regular Meeting – June 12, 2018 Members Present: Peter Brown, Nancy Couperus, Carol Gottlieb (chair), Birgitta Indaco, Rajiv Patel, Ed Smith Associate Members: Neela Shukla Members Absent: Buvana Dayanandan and Wai Lee Wong Council Liaison Present: Absent Members of Public Present: Pat Lang 1.Call to Order Carol Gottlieb called the meeting to order at 5:38 pm. 2.Presentations from the Floor Two of our EDP members have applied for two open slots on the Planning Commission – Rajiv Patel and Ed Smith. The City Council Meeting for consideration will be on July 21, 2018. In July, the chair for EDP Committee will have new elections and Carol Gottlieb has termed out. 3.Committee Dates of Interest & Assignments a.Committee: Tuesday, July 10, 2018 @ 5:30 pm b.Council: July 21, 2018 c.Planning Commission: July 5, 2018 d.Field Trips: June 15 (Rajiv, Carol, Ed) and possibly June 29 (Peter) e.Fast Track/Site Development meetings: June 19 (Carol), June 26 (Nancy), July 3 (Ed), July 10 (Birgitta) 4.Old Business Tree Ordinance: Nothing new to report Los Altos Hills Landscape Recommendations Guide: reviewed comments by Kit Gordon and Suzanne Avila. It was recommended to change cover photo to represent a Los Altos Hills actual location – Peter and Neela to arrange a new photo of Edith park at corner of Edith and Fremont. It was moved to approve by Nancy and 2nd by Rajiv, passed unanimously. Outdoor Lighting: on hold Metal Roof Guidelines: Steve Padovan to look at it when time permits. Beautification of Entrances to Town: discuss at next meeting Town Picnic and EDP booth: Discussed outdoor lighting and as it affects your neighbor. Possible article for the Town News letter with approval by the Planning Department. Trivia Questions: Still looking for questions on Los Altos Hills for Family Night about wildlife/LAH History/ wildlife. 5.New Business May meeting minutes are missing and looking to see if someone wrote them down. 6.Review of Field Trips May 18, 2018 26201-26333 Elena Road – Subdivision. Investigations still ongoing with soil types, ravines, septic systems. 12791 Normandy Lane – Conversion of Second Unit. No impact to neighbors and simple remodel of existing. 13439 Mandoli – Addition and Basement. Screening recommended to north of addition. Driveway to be realigned. June 1, 2018 13581 Wildcrest Drive - New Residence. Concerns – location of house, size and use of artificial turf. 26896 Alejandro Drive – Addition/Remodel. Steep slopes above and below existing house. Slope easement above the house and open space easement below. Existing slab foundation has no ventilation and ground squirrel activity. Glass enclosure for internal staircase is 3 stories and 2 levels of glass guardrails are reflective to neighbors. 13769 Wildflower Lane – Pool & Hardscape. Pool to replace existing play structure. 7.Review of Fast Tracks/ Site Development Meeting ( review findings & provide members not present at meeting with outcome.) May 15, 2018 14510 Manuella Road – New Residence – Lands of Niu Teardown ranch house; relocated oak tree not doing well; open space easement. 12121 Foothill Lane – Landscape Screening Plan – Lands of Flierl Neighbors complained; no appeal; town reduced lights and 3 oak trees recommended. Placement of oak trees and the affect on neighbor’s vineyard. Continued to May 29, 2018. 28550 Matadero Creek Lane – Secondary Dwelling – Lands of Raya Town approved an independent 2nd gate from primary residence. May 22, 2018 – Subdivision Committee Meetings 26201 – 26333 Elena Road – Subdivision – Lands of Tan Investigations still ongoing with soil types, ravines, septic systems. May 29, 2018 12121 Foothill Lane - Landscape Screening Plan-Lands of Flierl Approved as conditioned. 25380 Becky Lane - 2-Story Residence - Lands of Kleidon and Li Approved as conditioned. 8.Planning Commission Meeting Report June 7, 2018 – reviewed briefly 9.Council Meeting Report May 17, 2018 – review briefly 10.Adjournment at 6:50 pm Birgitta Indaco
