Attendees John Harpootlian Jay Shideler Walt Wilson Peter Evans (chair) 2. Update on Transportation Fuel Conservation Program and Single-stream Recycling Jay Shideler provided an update on Los Altos Garbage Co.’s proposed changeover to single-stream recycling. The committee discussed the value of measurement to see that the town council’s objectives in approving the new recycling program are met. Peter Evans agreed to review the town council’s action to determine the objectives and expectations of the council and report back to the committee. Jay agreed to research for any relevant recycling goals set by the state and report back to the committee. The committee also discussed the importance of the entity performing the processing of combined recycled waste stream, particularly if it is not Los Altos Garbage Co., and Jay agreed to lead further information gathering and report back to the committee. The committee also discussed Los Altos Garbage Co.’s outreach to the community to educate them on the changeover and suggestions some members of the committee have made. The committee took no action, but the next meeting’s agenda will include discussion of any new findings as well as any related committee actions or recommended council actions. The committee also discussed LAGCo.’s role in the town’s fuel use efficiency goal. Jay will continue to explore with LAGCo. how they see their potential to contribute to this goal and their interest in some emerging fuel efficiency solutions like hydraulic launch assist. 3. Information Initiative The committee discussed elements of an information initiative that might include articles for the town newsletter, information material that would be available at town hall, and a website. As the committee’s role is to advise the town council, we would seek town input on information the committee disseminates. Ian Earnest was not present but is scheduled to provide information on efficient pool pumping systems for the committee. 4. Update on PV/Energy Efficiency Ordinance John Harpootlian suggested that, prior the final adoption of the energy efficiency ordinance, the information packet prepared for the council for new homes include the home’s modeled efficiency relative to Title 24 and whether photovoltaic systems are planned. 5. Schedule for Upcoming Meetings The committee tentatively set January 16, 2006 as the date for the next meeting. 6. Public Comments/Other Topics John Harpootlian reported on the League of Women Voters energy policy summit held on December 3, 2005. He noted one topic, Community Choice Aggregation, as something we might want to look into further as a potential benefit for residents. [CPUC R0310003] 7. Adjournment
