Roll Call Attendees: Breene Kerr, Rich Larsen, Kunjan Shah, Peter Evans Members of the Public: Rick Weiss, Steve Schmidt 2. Approval of Minutes 3. Publicity for Upcoming Energy/Environmental Forum The committee reviewed plans to publicize the upcoming energy efficiency forum, including notices through Hills2000 and the town’s Facebook site, a new banner, appearance at the Westwind Barn Lighting, and the town newsletter. 4. Future Initiatives (discussion) The committee brainstormed on possible future initiatives of the committee. We took no action to prioritize or commit to any of these. a. Getting LAH back ahead of the green building curve i. Increase Build-It-Green point requirement ii. Include remodels iii. Increase availability of raters iv. Benchmarks to apply to existing homes v. Energy disclosure on home sale b. Solar penetration (According to Environment California we are #5) c. Smart Metering/HAN/demand response pilot d. Demonstrations/case studies/brochures i. Recirc pumps ii. Duct sealing iii. Heat pump (Mr. Slim, Mini-split) e. EE/PV financing district (LAH-specific rules for eligibility?) 5. Westwind Barn energy projects and related financing update Breene Kerr updated the committee on the energy elements of the WWB refurbishment. He believes achieving net zero energy is achievable with an LED lighting project NOTICE TO PUBLIC Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Environmental Initiatives Committee regarding any item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the City Clerk’s office located at Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California during normal business hours. 6. Acterra/High Energy Homes assessment program/partnership update Steve Schmidt reported that John Sugar is reviewing the project at the CEC and taking it around to commissioners. Stanford Precort institute is interested in the project from the standpoint of residential energy and behavior. We discussed trying to arrange a meeting with CEC Comm. Byron. 7. Solar presentations 8. Public Comment The committee received a writeup from Jay Shideler summarizing his visit representing LAH to the Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer (SMaRT) station, including comparisions to the GreenWaste line presently used by LAH residents. We also discussed including the SVLG Bay Area Climate Coalition on the next meeting’s agenda. 9. Adjournment
