Meeting Minutes DATE: Monday, January 18, 2010

1. Roll Call

2. Approval of Minutes
3. Bay Area Climate Collaborative
The committee agreed to revise the agenda to discuss Los Altos Hills’ participation in the Bay Area
Climate Collaborative. Rich Larsen provided more detail about the organization. The committee agreed to
recommend to the town council that Los Altos Hills become a member. The EIC will make a presentation
on the subject at the February 18 town council meeting.
4. EV-ready Building Forum
Item tabled.
5. Acterra/High Energy Homes assessment program/partnership update
Steve Schmidt advised that they anticipate the start of this program in the 2nd quarter of 2010. Steve will
place an article in upcoming town newsletter.
6. Santa Clara County AB811 Financing Program
Breene Kerr reported that this program is moving ahead. The effective interest rate to borrowers will be
about 7%.
7. Westwind Barn energy projects and related financing update
Breene Kerr updated the committee on the energy elements of the WWB refurbishment. The Rheem solar
thermal system must be well-ventilated, and evidently Rheem has stopped offering these systems. Some
members of the committee suggested that the main panel at WWB be installed with ready access to the
main power leads for clamp-on current transformers to support local monitoring The energy projects at the

Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Environmental Initiatives Committee regarding any
item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the City Clerk’s office located at Town
Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California during normal business hours.
8. Public comment
Guests from K2 made a presentation on a future energy management system for homes. The EIC has an
interest in these systems as a potential resource for residents’ energy management in their own homes,
particularly as a follow-on to audits or energy assessments and deployment of PG&E’s smart meters.
9. Adjournment
