Roll Call Attendees: P.Evans, Raj Reddy, S. Veerina, Community Members: R Weiss, S. Schmidt, D. Gentry (Acterra) 2. Approval of Minutes Minutes were tabled until the next EIC meeting. 3. Earth Day April 17 Steve Schmidt and Davena Gentry of Acterra updated the committee on outreach activities for the town’s High Energy Home energy assessment program, including a display at Earth Day and possibly upcoming avenues such as the Town Picnic and Our Town. The program will target 250 homes in LAH with energy bills exceeding $700/month. Davena will be the Acterra lead for outreach for the participating communities. The committee agreed to present some sort of child-appropriate interactive display promoting home energy efficiency consistent with Earth Day Every Day theme. We expect to have access to electric power. Sheela said she could look into programs developed as part of the De Anza College Environmental Studies program. Raj said he would look into programs developed for Scouts. Other possible outreach opportunities for the home assessment program include other town committees, the Bullis Charter School “Green Team” the Gardner Bullis equivalent, and local scouting groups. 4. LAH Green Building Ordinance & PV Ordinances – Update The committee noted that the California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen) became mandatory in January 1, 2011. These are measures within Title 24 that address planning, design, and building construction in the areas of site development, water efficiency, material conservation, and resource efficiency. For residential construction municipalities can incorporate CALGreen Tier 1 or Tier 2 in their building codes as voluntary or mandatory measures. The town’s green building ordinance, which is based on a GreenPoint Rated point total, is comparable in some respects to CALGreen Tier 1 or Tier 2. 5. LAH Fast Track Guide – possible new goal recommendation NOTICE TO PUBLIC Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Environmental Initiatives Committee regarding any item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the City Clerk’s office located at Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California during normal business hours. The committee took on the task of developing a recommendation for a Goal IV in the Fast Track Guide that would address sustainability. The committee discussed various ideas, and agreed that such a goal should incorporate sustainability, efficient use of limited common resources, and in those respects being a good neighbor. The committee did not agree on a specific goal. 6. BAAQMD Vehicle Charger Grant Program Peter Evans distributed a BAAQMD announcement of funding for EV charging facilities forwarded by Waidy Lee. It is not clear if the town or town residents could benefit from this program. Waidy had said she will look into it. 7. LAH GHG Inventory Update 8. Election of Committee Officers 9.
