HomeMy WebLinkAboutApril 25 Environmental Initiatives Committee Regular Meeting Minutes DATE: Thursday, April 25, 2013 TIME: 7:00 PM LOCATION: Parks & Recreation Building, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills 1. Roll Call, New Members, New Council Liason Attendees: Peter Evans, Serena Giori, Raj Reddy, Aileen Lee The committee approved the minutes from the March 28 meeting and agreed to submit the portion on the town’s artificial turf policy as the committee’s recommendation. 2. Fast Track Guide The committee continued to discuss the proposed sustainability element of the fast track guide and agreed to include as an element reuse capability for on-site water catchment. 3. LAH PV Ordinance Renewal 4. EIC Annual Report debrief 5. Joint Committee Meeting re General Plan Circulation Element followup The committee discussed the proposed revisions to the Circulation Element of the General Plan as followup to the presentation in early April. The committee agreed to submit comments based on five over-arching concerns:  New Major Bikeway designations that appear to codify/endorse hazardous conditions  Unclear implications of these designations  The change in emphasis away from maintaining the rural nature of town roads  Designation of Taaafe as a connector in light of Altamont  Lack of substance in emergency access Serena agreed to draft a submittal consistent with these points on behalf of the committee. NOTICE TO PUBLIC Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Environmental Initiatives Committee regarding any item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the City Clerk’s office located at Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California during normal business hours. 6. EIC Initiatives Peter Evans raised the opportunity for town policies that could increase the amount of structure demolition waste that can be re-used. Raj Reddy agreed to look into the present Green Building requirements. The committee could invite a reseller to provide guidance on what practices would contribute to reusable feedstock. 7.
