Discussion of EIC initiatives on water and energy conservation. Energy Conservation Initiatives. Aileen Lee will cross reference the data results of the analyses by Steve Schmidt completed in September 2014 with data of the energy audit done by Ferreira Service Inc. in September 2008. We postponed discussion of recommendations to the Council until theses analyses are complete. School Outreach Initiatives. Jehan Godrej reported that he is coordinating with the Director of the Green Team at the Los Altos High School on drought awareness and water conservation initiatives for the student body. We discussed getting the Art Department at the School involved to evaluate if an art contest with the theme of water and energy conservation is feasible. The school newspaper will also participate by publishing an article on the drought and the need for water conservation in the October issue. Water Conservation Initiatives. Kit Gordon and Jehan Godrej reported that the Rain Water seminar, co-sponsored by EIC, held at the Los Altos library on September 10, 2014 was well attended and generated much interest. Kit will follow up and will report to EIC any new initiatives in the Bay Area on this subject. Peter Evans and Jehan Godrej reported on the Water Conservation Declaration by the Council. EIC will ask Purissima and CalWater feedback on the impact of this initiative on water consumption. The initial response from the residents seems favorable. If data from our water supply companies confirms it and if the Council wants EIC to continue coordinating with Purissima and CalWater water conservation initiatives, EIC will continue to search for new and more effective ways to make residents aware of the need for conservation and of the financial and ecological downside of ignoring these issues. 4. We are in the process of adjusting to new responsibilities and we acknowledge that there is more to be done. 5. CCA Update. No action. 6.
