HomeMy WebLinkAboutMay 20Historical Committee Meeting Minuets May 20, 2008 Meeting called to order at 2:00 pm by Jean Mordo. Roll call Committee members present: Bill Downey, Les Earnest, Mary Ann Malcolm, Tom McReynolds, Bob Stutz. Council Lia son present: Jean Mordo. Associate member absent: Barbara Packard. Election of officers In rapid succession, committee members nominated and unanimously elected the following officers: Mary Ann Malcolm, Chair Les Earnest, Secretary Bob Stutz, Vice Chair Discussion of City Council Assignment -- Street name for Lands of Mad Manor (Morrison) Subdivision Committee members informally discussed some prospective names for the new road in the subdivision, which might be one of the following with a suitable addendum such as "Court", "Lane", or "Way": Fava (after Florence Fava, an earlier Town Historian) Deer (derived from Deer Creek, which flows through the property and under the new road) Mad Manor (original proposal) Manor Morrison Manor Morrison The Committee Chair agreed to further investigate the preferences of the developers. Consideration of Committee Assignments An Inventory Subcommittee was formed consisting of Downey, Earnest and Malcolm to inventory Town holdings of historical documentation. The Committee agreed to consider the following prospective action items at future meetings: 1. Propose correction of misspelled street names, such as Manuela and Purisima; 2. Compilation of a list of Town historical figures; 3. Possibly propose a name for the entrance road to Westwind Barn that goes through Byne Preserve; 4. Possibly propose names for some unnamed paths.
