OLD BUSINESS
3. Minutes of the 5/18/2010 Committee meeting
5/18/2010 Minutes reviewed and approved. The June meeting did not have a quorum, so
there are no minutes.
4. Newsletter Scanning Project
Earnest reported that the Internet Archive has finally completed their scanning of early
Town Newsletters, so he plans to pick up the source materials and do some manual
scanning to fix things that didn't turn out right.
5. Inventory Subcommittee
Earnest announced that the Inventory Subcommittee will continue cataloging historical
scrapbooks on Tuesday, July 27 beginning at 1:30 pm in Council Chambers.
6. Signs needed to identify two paths and a road named for historic figures
Earnest reported that repeated requests to the City Manager to get signs erected
identifying the Packard and Wallace Stegner Paths as well as Margit Way, as approved
by the Council two years ago, have produced no visible results. The Committee will
continue attempting to get a schedule established for this work.
7. Plan for a Town History Exhibit
Mayor Kerr has not yet put this request from the Committee on the Council agenda.
8. “Historical” monuments on Fremont Road
Following Council approval, the two erroneous historical monuments on Fremont Road
were promptly removed by staff. The Committee has now unanimously adopted a
resolution requesting that the bronze plaques be preserved and added to the Town's
collection of historical artifacts.
NEW BUSINESS
9. Sunnyvale Museum visit
Cleary, Earnest and Malcolm agreed to meet at Town Hall at 10:00am on 8/10/2010 in
preparation for a visit to the Sunnyvale History Museum.
10. Research
Earnest suggested that in addition to the apparent need to rewrite the existing Town
History web page that a list of historical resources be compiled and made public. This
would include listings of relevant books, articles and web sites as well as nearby
historical museums. Earnest volunteered to compile this information and invited
Committee members to send him suggestions for inclusion.
Earnest also suggested that someone start a project to identify the origins of street
names in Town, as Los Altos has done for their streets. Downey volunteered to initiate
this project.

The Committee elected Cleary as Chair, Vojvoda as Vice Chair and Earnest as
Secretary.
12. Presentations from the floor
