HomeMy WebLinkAboutApril 16Minutes of the History Committee Meeting – April 16, 2013 Attendance: Chairwomen Carol Gottlieb, Mary Ann Malcolm, Jitze Couperus, May Davenport, Diane Brauch, Catherine Popell, Carol Crites, Ginger Summit. Not present Nobuko Saito Cleary and Associate Member Joe Heinrich Town Council Liaison: Rich Larsen Associate Member: Joe Heinrich Chairwomen: Carol Gottlieb called meeting at 3:45 p.m. March 19, 2013 Minutes were approved. Old Business: 1. Old Newspaper articles (Files cabinets) and Newspaper/Book scanning project still in progress. Working on getting assistance from Foothill students. 2. Ginger Summit has started her Oral History Project. She is working on her second interview. This entails recording, than a hard copy of the recording is made, script questions/permission slip are required. Interviews are taking place at the Heritage House. 3. Street name project is progressing nicely, Diane Brauch is eager to update any information on street names. 4. Heritage Oak Tree/History/Environmental Design/Open Space committees are proceeding with a small group of committee members to develop and a submit a statement with recommendations for protecting Heritage Trees. This will be submitted to Town Council for review. The History Committee responsibility will be to tag and place a name plate on the designated tree. 5. Linda Swan was at the History meeting to share information on the Griffin House with Sheryl Alexander from Foothill College. Unfortunately Sheryl was given incorrect information on the location of where the History Committee meeting was taken place. This Griffin house meeting has been rescheduled for our next meeting in May. Linda Swan to be appointed as an Associate Member at our next meeting in May. 6. Carol to give status of Pink Horse Ranch Horse signs that are in need of restoration and to give a report to Council status/updating what the History committee is doing. Feed back to the History committee on May 21, 2013. 7. The History Committee was invited to Ginger's home to Honor Rex Gardiner on April 23rd. 8.
