Called to order at 3:35 by Chairwoman Carol Crites In attendance: Carol Crites, Nobuko Cleary, Jitze Couperus,Carol Gottlieb, Diane Brauch, May Davenport, Mary Ann Malcolm Absent: Catherine Popell, Assoc. Members, Joe Heinrich, Linda Swan, Tara Swan, Council Liaison - Rich Larsen 2. Floor presentations - Nobuko Cleary requested the committee officially support the May 3 Japanese Culture Day at Hidden Villa. She asked the committee members’ help at the children’s booth. Mary Ann moved to agendize the emergency item regarding the committee’s support in order to have our name on the event poster as supporters. Moved and seconded. Also moved and seconded to support the event officially 3. Review of January 20, 2015 minutes - accepted as written 4. Committee Reports: a. Digital Archives & Website – Information about the digitization of old Town Newsletters was presented to Town Council in the committee’s annual report. Plans are being made to make them available on the town’s website. b. Oral History Project: Nobuko Cleary reported only one oral project has been completed but not yet been paid. We have a bill for $250 from the video company. c. Preservation of Historical Landmarks of Interest: Carol Crites will check on silos at Pink Horse Ranch Shumate Gates - Richard, Town Engineer, said they need to be evaluated 5. Old Business: a. Heritage Park Progress - Carol Crites and Mary Ann Malcolm met with Carl, Town Manager. The Town is considering a Recreation building in the heritage park site but will keep the antenna and equipment there also, as well as the farm equipment. Considerations for what to do with Heritage House are being discussed. We had a general discussion as to what each committee member felt about the future for the Heritage House. b. Historical Display April 19 - Karen Drucker has given us permission to display history photos on six panels, probably 24 pictures. Carol Crites and Courteney Corrigan, Mayor, will go through our historical photos which will be brought to Town Hall from the Corporation Yard. Carol Crites will arrange photos for display. Carol Gottleib will do publicity for our portion of the event. Can these photos be tied into the town’s 60th Anniversary? c. Cupola Restoration Progress and Plaque - Carol Crites and Mary Ann Malcolm checked the restoration which is essentially done and ready to be installed. The time capsule can be added at the anniversary event in January, 2016. Mary Ann will create wording for a plaque to be installed. We will write an article for the Town Crier on the cupola and also create a contest for the best item suggested for the time capsule. Moved and seconded to buy a time capsule size 31" x 16". (Within a week of our meeting the cupola was installed in front of the town council chambers.) d. 2015 events - The Taafee family will be contacted to speak at a town event probably at the end of September. Carol Crites and Mary Ann will begin planning the event. 6. New Business a. The yearly LAH Facts will be given committee status for future agendas, The photos and artifacts will also be an official committee headed by Carol Crites. b.
