Committee Reports:
Farm Equipment, Bridget Morgan: gathered records from 1995‐99 for the Heritage Park restoration
(records from file cabinets and Deborah Padovan), specifically equipment shed (which is now being used
for cell phone equipment). Historical Society was driving force for project and she confirmed funds came
from two sources:
1) Santa Clara County Historical Commission ($2,500 and $12,844 – over 2 years).
2) Packard Foundation ($6,600 and $12,844), with funds to be earmarked for Heritage Park
Total cost to build shed: $25,139. Balance of funds unknown. Town documents show Heritage Park
project to be used for educational purposes for at least 20 years and the custodian of the funds (Town of
LAH) be responsible for maintaining equipment.
After analyzing the condition of the equipment and care from the town thus far, Bridget does not
suggest prioritizing funds or resources for restoring equipment. She suggests adding an interpretive sign
(elementary age focus) addressing the historical use of said equipment.
MaryAnn commented on condition of equipment. Thinks “sprayer” is the single most valuable piece of
equipment that should be restored.
Digital Archives, Jitze Couperus: continuing to scan additional documents and uploading to website.
Oral History Project, Nick French & Nobuko Cleary: discussed additional interviewee candidates. Les
Earnest completed in July; transcription in process. Discussed possibility of having a rotating display of
Oral Histories placed in Town Hall. Carol Crites to discuss with Deborah Padovan
Preservation incentives, MaryAnn Malcolm & John Swan: Investigating Mills Act as a method for
preserving the one‐room schoolhouse. Conversation amongst committee as to incentive options for
homeowners. John Swan emailed a draft letter to submit to the town council. Committee suggested
not sending letter to council at this time, but to include suggested detailed incentive items before
submitting.
Historical Sites: Shumate Gates, historical markers, Carol Gottlieb & Carol Crites: Carol Gottlieb
discussed site visits on search for water towers around the town.
