Old Business:
Annual Fall Presentation: Kim Cranston: Carol Gottlieb summarized ‐‐ about 90 people in attendance.
Presentation content included the Cranston family and artwork. Fewer attendees than previous events
due to competing events on same day
New Business:
John Swan discussed the next speaker event possibly be focused on Gordon Moore. Carol Gottlieb
charged with selecting a group of possible options. Discussion on whether we should go from one
presentations to two presentations per year. Decided to continue on one event per year.
Agenda item added for next meeting: One event or two events (presentations similar to Taaffe and
Cranston events)
History Committee Final Minutes - September 20, 2016
Committee Reports:
Town Hall Orchard Restoration/Farm Equipment, Bridget Morgan & Mary Ann Malcolm: Mary Ann
Malcolm showed plans for the heritage orchard, which includes 2 bocce ball courts (planned to be
completed by the end of 2016) and gazebo (location to be determined). Breaking the plan into phases
in order to make it manageable. Have allocated $15,000 thus far. Bridget Morgan working on writing
the grant for farm equipment.
Digital Archives, Jitze Couperus: Jitze Couperus proposed budget of $2,500 and detailed the breakdown.
Reviewed by committee with varying conversation including breaking costs by phases (1‐4).
Bridget Morgan made motion: to proceed with Jitze Couperus Phase 1 and fund through town general
funds

Oral History Project, Nick French & Nobuko Cleary: Nick French interviewed Jeanne Evilsizer who was
an employee for the town of Los Altos Hills from 1976‐2015. In transcription now. Providing a unique
perspective on the nuts and bolts of the town.
Preservation incentives, Mary Ann Malcolm Jitze Couperus & John Swan: Mary Ann Malcolm
continuing research on incentive options for homeowners. Scheduling meeting with Suzanne at LAH
Planning who is currently on vacation. Plan to obtain advice on guideline for orchard preservation. John
Swan discussed incentives to homeowners to restrict property development in the future – options still
in early stage discussions and a template is being proposed.
Historical Sites: Shumate Gates, historical markers, Carol Gottlieb & Carol Crites: Carol Gottlieb and
Carol Crites planning to go out and drive by properties that are on the town list. Planning to have a list
updated by the end of year.
