Called to order @ 3:37 PM
Present:
Members: Carol Gottlieb, Sally Wood, Jitze Couperus, Nobuko Cleary, Carol Grewal, Sylvia
Jensen
Associate Members: Linda Swan
Guests: Kjell Karlsson, George Tyson
Presentations:
Jitze asked about polishing the old Original Town Hall plaque. It was decided that polishing was
not needed.
Jitze started about a year ago to document all the plaques around town photographically. Found
LAH Historical Marker #1, which said “Where Indians Camped” and #10 on the Old Purissima
School House, which is now a church.
There is also a plaque on a rock in the middle of pathway, which heads steeply uphill from
Saddle Mountain Road, memorializing a former resident.
Carol Gottlieb found draft of booklet, no author, from about 1976 detailing Historical Markers
#4 to #14. Picture of plaque for Bicentennial Reenactment is on cover of booklet.
History House—Not suited for emergency communications because of water tank in attic. Most
of it is locked because of radio equipment stored in there. Maybe command center can be moved
out into a mobile command center van. Palo Alto is getting one in a couple of months.
Committee does not want house torn down and has made that known to the Town Council.
George Tyson (running for Town Council) stopped by, as he is interested in the Town volunteer
committees.
Jitze has photographed about eight of the 20 or 30 Town scrapbooks, which are now online. To
be useful, articles need to be indexed.
