3. New Business: Annual Election of OSC Positions
Current members of the OSC agreed to continue on the OSC for another term. Roger
Spreen will continue as Chair.
A change of meeting date was proposed by Roger, which might allow greater
participation by Mary Davey and Patty Ciesla, in particular. Roger will send out an
e-mail to OSC members recommending a change to the third Thursday of the month at
8 am. If all agree, the next meeting will be held Thursday, September 18th, at 8 am.
4. Current Business:
Rat Educational Program
Nancy reported that a Town-wide mailing would be advertising this meeting on
Wednesday, September 10th – 7 to 9 pm. Speakers: David Johnston, ecologist
with H.T. Harvey & Associates; Bob Kaufman, Field Operations Supervisor for
Santa Clara County Vector Control, and Richard Schmidt of Sensitive Solutions
Pest Control. Interest is anticipating to be strong on this topic.

This is a steep lot containing an important wildlife area. Sue Welch is familiar
with the property. The OSC wants to make sure that there is connectivity to
Matadero Creek. Sue will keep the OSC apprivsed of pathways proposed on
this property.

Planning – 5-lot Subdivision on Natoma
This property has now become a 2-parcel subdivision. The proposed easement
has been somewhat reduced, but the channel will remain around it. Roger met
with the staff and the property owner to discuss the easement. Roger felt that the
easement would be adequate to protect wildlife movement in the area.
O’Keefe
Roger has been asked to get back to Richard Chiu about the Shelterbelt proposal.
The OSC recommends that Shelterbelt be paid for their report on O’Keefe. Sue
suggested that a neighborhood meeting be set up to go over creek restoration,
minor improvements and amenities, fixing the bridge, setting up a maintenance
schedule, etc.
Adobe Creek
No report.
Santa Clara County Creeks
Nancy announced a meeting of the Santa Clara County Creeks Coalition – Living
Streams – September 23, 2008 (7:15 to 8:15 pm) at the Cubberley Community
Center, 4000 Middlefield Road.
Fencing
There was discussion about some of the ideas brought up for consideration on
fencing at the previous meeting – marking fence boundaries, for example.
Roger will set up a meeting with Debbie Pedro to discuss these ideas. The goal of
meeting will be to share these ideas with Debbie.
OPEN DISCUSSION:
Stinkweed – Sue proposed an article for the Town newsletter. She would also like to
distribute as needed to residents. Sue will check with Karen Jost if it would be possible
to advise property owners who have really bad infestations on methods to eradicate the
weed. Our goal is to contain the spread of this highly invasive weed in Los Altos Hills.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 am. Next meeting – September 18th at 8 am.
