HomeMy WebLinkAboutOctober 28Art in Public Places Minutes of Monday October 28, 2013 Meeting held in Parks & Recreation Building — Los Altos Hills, at 7 p.m. Page 1 of 2 pages Karen Druker, Chair., called the meeting to order. Other committee members present: Roger Burnell, Patricia Kreager, Sherry Scott and Gail Solomon Minutes of September 30, 2013 were read by Patricia Kreager in the absence of the APP secretary, Jean Struthers. Corrections and additions were made and then approved by the committee. Karen read a publicity article she was writing for the Town Crier publication. Suggestions regarding the wording were made to enhance the article. Karen will meet with Ellie Van Houtte, art writer, Oct. 29, 2013, for submission. The Committee previewed sites on the Town Hall campus for possible future sculpture locations. One sculpture under consideration is: Stellar I, II, III by artist Selina Rodrigues, for installation at the Town Hall, front corner wall of the building, in the Heritage Oak Tree Courtyard. A possible donor has already come forth to sponsor this gift. Note: The Committee discussed renaming the subject sculpture to "Totem, for tribute to our Ohlone Roots". Karen will seek the artist's approval of this change. Motion: by Roger Burnell, we place a "Resource Work Book", in the Town Hall foyer, for viewing possible sculptures and donor opportunities; stimulate interest and to share tastes and preferences with the Committee. The book would be available by Nov. 1St, 2013. Seconded: Sherry Scott. Unanimously Annroved . Art in Public Places Minutes of Monday, October 2013 Page 2 of 2 Roger will represent the APP Committee at the City Council meeting, Nov. 5t", 2013, at the Town Hall. Future fundraising and advertising strategies were discussed. This subject will be explored further in our next meeting. Sherri Scott agreed to research Art Grants available for our art projects.
