1.Call to Order occurred at 7 pm
Committee Members Present: Roger Burnell, Robyn Aber, Gail Solomon, Julie
Arnheim, Oana Olteanu, Stacey Newman
Committee Members Absent: Farah Tabatabai
Associate Member: Kjell Karlsson (voted Associate Member at this meeting. Motion
to make Kjell an Associate Member made by Stacey, seconded by Gail, approved by
all. Motion passed)
Guests in Attendance: Scott Vanderlip, Member of the Parks and Recreation
Committee for the Town of Los Altos Hills, Sarah Robustelli, Community Services
Supervisor for the Town of Los Altos Hills
Committee discussed arranging a Tribute to Retired Member Karen Druker. Roger
purchased an engraved vase to present to Karen. We discussed having an
Appreciation Dinner for Karen as a Committee as well. TBD
2.Minutes of the Regular Meeting from February 9th, 2016 were not available.
The minutes will be circulated to the Committee electronically for approval.
3.Presentations from the Floor (Public Visitors)
Scott Vanderlip from the Parks and Recreation Committee proposed a piece of
interactive art that his Committee wants sited at Westwind Barn. The art is a rustic
hanging empty picture frame, labeled “Los Altos Hills”, roughly 4 feet x 4 feet, that
visitors can take selfies behind. His inspiration came from art he saw in Harmony,
CA.
The LAH Parks and Recreation Committee approved the piece in October. Sarah
Rosbustelli said that she would assist in dealing with potential Town issues.
Motion to endorse placing this art at Westwind Barn made by Roger, seconded by
Robyn, approved by all. Motion Passed.
4. Reports from any Members Travelling or Unable to Attend- None.

Regular Meeting Minutes
5. Prior & Standing Business: Committee Administration.
A.Roger presented a Review of Prior Acquisition: Sculpture: “Blue”
•Legal proceedings are underway against Alan Osbourne, the
fabricator.
•Scott Atthowe has picked up the pieces of the sculpture. He will finish
the work, Make adjustments to fit the existing base, paint and install
the piece. Donor is paying for Scott Atthowe’s work.
• Final Parklette Design, Titling & Dedication Plaque discussed.
Scott Vanderlip will inform the Parks and Recreation Committee of
Blue and the parklette design.
Roger plans to order a second bench for the parklette after garnering
approval from each Council member.
Motion to approve the parklette design made by Roger,seconded by
Stacey and approved by all. Motion passed.
Preparations for Final City Approvals to come, i.e. structural
engineering.
“Ribbon-Cutting” preparations on standby. Targeting April 6th.
Reception 5:00-5:30 pm, Ceremony/unveiling/acknowledgments 5:30-
6:00 pm.
Press release will be crafted by Robyn and the marketing
subcommittee. The press release will discuss the artist, her sculpture,
the donors and the Town’s public art program.
Discussed need for a punch list for ongoing maintenance of the art and
parklette.
Discussed possible need for a parking option.
B.Review of Committee Master Program & Document (s)
City approved acquisition of all three art pieces: “Peaceful
Thoughts”, “Inspiration Bench”, and “Just Kid Play”.
Titling and signage of the three pieces was discussed.
Roger will ask the artists or their gallerists for
examples/recommendations of signage used by other collectors.
Committee feels that the two Gustavson works should have similar
signage. Signage must be presented before the Town Council during
their currently scheduled March 8th meeting.
C.Review/Discussion of Sourcing, Donorship, Form of Contributions,
Mechanics
Roger informed the Committee that there is a particularly generous, unnamed
donor who likes “Runners” by Richard Starks. Roger will bring samples of
the work to our next committee meeting. In the meantime, we brainstormed
different names for the art: Life Races, Racing Along, Keeping Pace, On the
Move, Runners.
D.A formal Review of the Site Selection Program has been completed by
Roger. Public sites have been photographed and those photographs
organized in a booklet.
Gail and Oana reported visiting artist Patrick Dougherty. His work uses
willow, is eco-friendly and degrades, is large in scale and expensive (>50K).
He is booked with commissions until 2019.
6. Prior and Pending Business
Not discussed except to mention that the rebuilt Art Reference Volumes are back
at City Hall for all to see/use.
7. New Business:
Frederick Prescott Studio Kinetic Sculptures will be discussed at the next
PAC meeting. Committee members were asked to look at the catalogue previously
distributed electronically to decide if they like the art or not and rank order the pieces
they like most. The Studio’s website was not working when checked at the meeting.
Robyn will let us know when the website is functioning again and/or she’ll request an
updated catalog be forwarded to Committee members.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:07 pm.
