HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/19/2020 1 City Council Regular Meeting Minutes March 19, 2020 Town of Los Altos Hills City Council Regular Meeting Minutes Thursday, March 19, 2020 Council Chambers, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California Mayor Wu called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. CALL TO ORDER (6:00 P.M.) A. Roll Call Present: Councilmember Corrigan (via teleconference), Councilmember Spreen (via teleconference), Councilmember Tyson (via teleconference), Vice Mayor Tankha, Mayor Wu Absent: None Staff: City Manager Carl Cahill, City Attorney Steve Mattas, Acting City Clerk Cody Einfalt B. Pledge of Allegiance 1. AGENDA REVIEW There were no changes to the agenda. 2. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR Persons wishing to address the Council on any subject not on the agenda may do so now. Please complete a Speaker Card located on the back table of the Council Chambers and submit it to the City Clerk. Comments are limited to two (2) minutes per speaker. California law prohibits the Council from acting on items that do not appear on the agenda. Under a Resolution previously adopted by the Council, such items can be referred to staff for appropriate action, which may include placement on the next available agenda. Acting City Clerk Cody Einfalt read a public comment from Los Altos Hills resident Roy Woolsey, regarding construction issues on Snell Lane. Acting City Clerk Cody Einfalt read a public comment from Los Altos Hills resident Sean Suchter, regarding maintaining the planning and building process during the shelter- in-place order. Santa Clara County Sheriff's Captain Rich Urena provided an update on the burglaries in Town, and informed the Council that additional officers have been stationed in Town. 2 City Council Regular Meeting Minutes March 19, 2020 The Council asked questions of staff and received responses. Councilmember Corrigan asked for staff, when and if appropriate to look at Snell Lane. She also asked for the City Manager to keep the Council informed regarding the doubling up of Sheriff Deputies in Town. Vice Mayor Tanka asked about residential building happening right now. City Manager Cahill replied that the Town is not prohibiting construction of housing as it is considered an essential activity. There has been a decline in permit requests and inspections due to the shelter-in-place order and the contractor’s ability to get supplies. 3. CONSENT CALENDAR A. Proclamation of a Local Emergency by the Town of Los Altos Hills Regarding COVID-19 (Staff: C. Cahill) Mayor Wu read a prepared message regarding the current shelter-in-place and encouraged residents to comply with the order. MOTION MADE AND SECONDED: Vice Mayor Tankha moved to approve a Proclamation of a local emergency regarding COVID-19. The motion was seconded by Mayor Wu. Motion Carried 5 to 0: AYES: Councilmember Corrigan, Councilmember Spreen, Councilmember Tyson, Vice Mayor Tankha, Mayor Wu NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None 4.
