A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS RECOGNIZING THE
LOS ALTOS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ON THEIR
15TH YEAR OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS,the Los Altos Community Foundation was founded in 1991 with a
mission to promote community building in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and surrounding
unincorporated areas of the community; and
WHEREAS,the goals of the Foundation are to : support community building
activities; improve the quality of life locally by supporting community organization;build civic
pride and community spirit; foster communication among citizens and organization; encourage
broad citizen involvement in the community; provide positive leadership; and to promote a
culture of giving; and
WHEREAS,the Foundation created a"Founders"program, inviting citizens of both
communities to join the Foundation in its effort to build community, and this program now
boasts over 340 area families and businesses who work with the Foundation to promote
programs, provide services and build and endowment for the future; and
WHEREAS,the Foundation was responsible for the formation of the Los Altos
Mediation Program (LAMP)which has provided free mediation services to the residents of Los
Altos and Los Altos Hills since 1995; and
WHEREAS,the Foundation assists community members in facilitating their charitable
giving through the management of over 60 donor advised funds,which have provided in excess
of$6 million dollars in support for local organizations, as well as organizations and causes
throughout the nation and around the world; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation will celebrate its 15th year of serving the community-and
also honor its' founding and retiring board members at its Annual Meeting and Brunch;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Town of
Los Altos Hills, that the City Council congratulates the Los Altos Community Foundation on this
most important milestone in their service to the communities of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills
and joins with the Foundation in recognizing the charitable and altruistic efforts of the founding
and retiring board members.
