HomeMy WebLinkAbout100-23RESOLUTION 100-23 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A LETTER TO THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF REQUESTING A FIVE- YEAR EXTENSION OF THE CURRENT LAW ENFORCEMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE TOWN AND ASSOCIATED PRO -RATA LEASE COSTS FOR THE FIVE-YEAR LEASE AGREEMENT FOR THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY SHERIFF WEST VALLEY SUBSTATION WHEREAS, on July 1, 2014 the Town of Los Altos Hills entered into an agreement with the Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff for law enforcement services. The term of the agreement was set for ten (10) years and will expire on July 1, 2024; and WHEREAS, the contract allows for an extension of five additional years based on mutual written agreement of all parties involved; and WHEREAS, the Cupertino City Council (on November 7) and Saratoga City Council (on November 15) will also consider authorizing their City Managers to extend the existing law enforcement contracts with the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office; and WHEREAS, an extension of the contract will essentially keep management of law enforcement services between the Town and County the same; and WHEREAS, extending the law enforcement agreement with the County for five years meets the City Council workplan goal to address the expiring contract with the Sheriff's Office. The extension will guarantee the continuity of services for Los Altos Hills residents. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills hereby authorizes the City Manager to submit a letter to the Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff requesting a five-year extension of the current law enforcement agreement with the Town and associated pro -rata lease costs for the five-year lease agreement for the Santa Clara County Sheriff, West Valley substation. The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills at a special meeting held on 13th of November 2023 by the following vote: AYES: Swan, Mok, Schmidt, Tanklia, Tyson NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Linda G.
