HomeMy WebLinkAbout506 ORDINANCE NO. 506 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS AMENDING CHAPTER 1, TITLE H OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS,the City Council desires to amend Title II, Chapter 1 of the Municipal Code to update the time and order of business of the regular meetings of the Council; NOW, THERFORE,the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Section 2-1.101 entitled "Regular meetings" of the Town Code shall be amended as follows: 2-1.101. (a) Time: Place. The City Council shall hold regular meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California, or in such other place within the Town limits to which the meeting may be adjourned. In the event that there are no closed session items on the agenda, the City Council meeting shall begin at 7:00 p.m. If by reason of emergency it shall be unsafe to meet in the Town Hall, meetings may be held at such other place within the Town limits as is designated in the special meeting notice. Section 2. A subsection(d) should be added to Section 2-1.101 to read as follows: 2-1.101. (d) Order of Business. Council business shall normally proceed in the following order: Roll call and closed session shall convene at 6:30 p.m. The City Council will conclude the closed session by 7:00 p.m. or continue to the closed session to a later point in the meeting. Public hearings will commence at approximately 7:00 p.m. Section 3 Section 2-1.106 entitled "End of Meetings" of the Town Code shall be amended as follows: 2-1.106 End of Meetings If a meeting is not completed by 10:00 p.m., the City Council shall then determine whether to consider further agenda items or adjourn and defer unfinished business until the next regular meeting of the Council. 0 • Section 4. Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of the Ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, invalid, or ineffective by any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity or effectiveness of the remaining portions of this Ordinance or any part hereof. The City Council hereby declares that it would have passed each section, subsection subdivision, paragraph, sentence clause phrase of the Ordinance irrespective of the fact that one or more of them would be declared unconstitutional or invalid. To this end,the provisions of the Ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective 30 days from the date of its passage and shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation and posted within the Town of Los Altos Hills in three public places.
